Hoedad is right, Andrew. Ten-cha works well for nasal problems. Try altering your diet and staying away from foods that tend to exacerbate allergies like chocolate, wheat products, beer (I guess your a bit young :-) peanuts, etc. These always make my pollen allergy symptoms worse. I can't take allegra or claratin anymore -they make me way too drowsy... |

I'm 47 & this has been the worst allergy season ever.
I have been doing the Zyrtec + Benadryl,+ nose drops & even wearing a mask... I get some relief when it rains. I'm so desperate I'm thinking of moving.

Hi from across the ocean! in UK it is also as bad as you guys have there. worst allergy season so far.:-(
"Now if I could only find something for the itchy eyes *|*" if it is not too advanced already, I found that warm compress with the ordinary tea bags do work on itching. the tea should be black. what I cannot fight with is the annoying cough that comes every time I run, shout or laugh...or just for no reason...:-( anyone have any personal know-hows? |

I have had asthma since I was a baby... now near my 30's I have found something that works. I also suffered from hay fever and serve allergies all my life. My cure is Singular... a pill for both indoor and outdoor allergies... also for asthma. I couldn't smell a thing or taste anything. Now... I feel better it is the best out there. It opens my lungs and clears my nasal passage ways. Ask your doctor about it 10 mg.

No side effects... I sleep a whole lot better, never waking up at night... Singulair is the correct spelling of the wonderful helpful medication, 10mg. They give it to young children, so I know it's safe. You may want to do some research to see if it's right for you. Honestly I couldn't smell before, and now I smell - I would say 50% better. Helps with both indoor and outdoor allergies. I may never have 100% because my allergies have been bad all my life... but I'm fine with the percentage I'm at now. It's a huge improvement for me. |

Nice!...good to hear you finally found some relief and thanks for the info. I'll definitely do a little more digging to see if it sounds right for me!...currently the only OTC meds that do any real good leave me drowsy.

I used to have the WORST allergies...well, some are better and some are not. Anyway, in a 4 month period I had been on steroids 5 tmes and antibiotics 6 times (because it always turned into an infection). My GP sent me to an allergist but I didn't have faith that he could do alot for me. I was wrong. First of all, I am allergic to EVERY grass and 75% of trees!! Playing outside with my kids isn't much fun knowing that I won't be able to breathe that night! I'm also allergic to molds, fungus, dust (and dust mites), and roaches(thank God I'm afraid of them-I clean just to keep them away!). Not to mention all of my food allergies! My doctor started me on immunotherapy (SP) two shots a week for a year. Now, I don't get my shots like I should, but I have noticed a difference. The biggest thing is I've only been on antibiotics once since I started (9months ago)and I haven't been on steroids once. It does not help everyone, but my allergies were so severe that my doctor thought I should at least give it a shot. Now, my food allergies are a different story...I still can't eat anything with garlic (ever tried NOT to eat garlic? It's in EVERYTHING!) unless I want to crap and have gas! The others are easier to avoid. The trick is finding a good doctor that listens to you and that you trust. Mine gave me tricks like, wearing a mask when I dust and then leaving the house for 30 minutes so that it settles. Or, not going outside when my husband cuts grass or 30 minutes afterward. Changing clothing when I've been cleaning or outside. Rinsing out my nose twice a day and after cleaning or being outside. Not using strong cleaners, or having my husband (or someone else ) clean for me. Since I started doing these things, I no longer take Sudafed like candy AND I only take antihistamines AS NEEDED!!! That's HUGE for me!!!

Sorry, I just realized that I wrote "crap" instead of "cramp." I had a good laugh at myself!!! Also, Astelin is a great nose spray antihistamine-IF you can take it. It burned my nose and throat too badly to use as it says to.
