"They are enough to repair a storefront or a historic sign, to make roof repairs or correct a drainage problem"

Great, except most businesses rent their spaces...what they're talking about is help for LANDLORDS, not businesses. Landlords don't employ people. How about a little help for those of us who do? Many of us are seeing 30% drops in business which, if it continues, means about 1/3 of "mom and pop" retail and restaurants will disappear in this depression.

"Santa Fe, EspaƱola and Taos are not eligible for the loan program"

Oh, then the article really is irrelevant to readers of the New Mexican.

Exactly. Property owners are not necessarily store owners, and store owners are not necessarily property owners. And if store owners are looking for loans at this point, it's unlikely it's for doing any "sprucing", up. It's more likely they're looking for something to float them thru the rest of the winter. It's not about looks at this point. And you can get a loan for up to $75,000, but they only have $100,000 to loan? Hmm.

Here in T or C, since the end of the summer season, the empty stores on Broadway (downtown) have become so numerous we look like a ghost town. Even if the money were given to the landlords, perhaps they could spruce up the storefronts so that they would appeal to new business ventures. Then we could employ more people, hopefully.

Nothing like an act of desperate futility.
Your Banks killed you. Now you`re running back to the very criminals for help.

This is the first time I had ever applied for a loan. I couldn't have asked for anything more from the staff that answered any of my questions to the application process. Once this had all been completed the money was transferred quickly into my account. I will definitely be recommending 911PDAY .COM ( http://goo.gl/44kQUQ ) too my friends and family.
