Albert: I am a descendant of Jesse B. Turley, who with his brother, Simeon, ran the Mill. My cousins and I will be in Taos next week (August 4-9) and I would like to talk with you. Will this be possible?

Dear Donna,
It's truly amazing that so many Turleys will descend upon Taos in the coming days. I would love to meet you, but I absolutely must leave Taos on Sunday.
I am meeting with some descendants while I'm here, however. Some of whom are on this list. I can't really say who I'm seeing and when on this message board for privacy reasons, but if you email me, I'm happy to divulge a tiny bit more.
I will provide those descendants with documents on CD (hundreds of docs that I spent the past few weeks scanning), but I will also make sure that the Southwest Research Center in Taos has a copy that you can yourself copy. The SWRC is attached to the Harwood (physically and in non-profit affiliation) and is in the Taos phone book.
I will also give out an informal "questionnaire" (for lack of a better term) that I am hoping they'll think about and send responses to me on via email. I'm happy to send you a copy too. I just need a day or so to write it up.
Anyway, email me at albertdgonzalez --at-- gmail.com .

Simeon was "married" to Maria Rosita Vigil y Romero and they had several children after her husband who was a sheep herder for Simeon died. We will be having a reunion in Missouri in June and would love to know what happened to our cousins. Please let me know if we are related, if you know our family or what happened to them after Simeon's murder during the Taos Revolt in 1847.

This is very interesting. I am related to Ernest Vigil, brother of Edward Vigil both born in Capulin. I was told by my grandmother, Petra married to Ernest that he was really a Turley. My mother is Connie Vigil (deceased 1965). I am living in Laredo Texas, but was born in Denver, CO. This is very interesting and would like to know of other cousins/relatives out there.

I'm on Facebook fam let me know if you are there, I will be looking for everyone. My 1st cousin Diane Ortiz was part of the first page of conversations and has passed away on February 17, 2010. The one thing she wanted to do was go to Taos to see the Turley Mill. I'm sorry she didn't make it and I will make it my job to visit the Turley Mill. My grandmothers name was Sarah Vigil and became Sarah Turley. Like all the other Turleys name were changed to protect them. My new email is [email protected]

Hi Seth...I for some reason just stumbled on your post from 2007(3years late...LOL). The remains of Turley Mill that you visited in Des Montes belonged to my(our) Ancestors. The land still belongs in my immediate family(Montoya and the Martinez) All of who still live there. Andres Montoya is the g.grandson of S. Turley, and Rosita Vigil. By chance have you found out any more information?
