I hope every one will think Homany hundreds of thousands of dollars and the danger to homes and livestock can be done over a 20 cent fire cracker.EVERY ONE PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU DO

Why should they go up and fight the fires? It WASN'T fireworks that started them. Sorry, but the linkage simply doesn't exist. However, AUTOMOBILES DO KILL thousands of people every year. Isn't it time to ban those rolling death machines and stop the slaughter of so many innocents?

You are comparing apples to oranges. The point is.... its too dry right now!!! Sure there is no 'linkage' at the moment... And it's because people are being urged to do the responsible thing and not set off fireworks. It's not like Susana is banning them, she obviously cannot do that. She's just trying to keep our communities safer by a suggestion. And jerkoffs that don't head to the warnings of what COULD happen during this dry season could end up paying dearly... it just isn't worth it.. of course though, there's gonna be a handful of smarta/sses that are gonna try and prove her wrong... and probably burn down half a town... guess we will have to wait and see.
Fires make prk worse

I did PRK on 1998. Fires making my eyes hurt hurt hurt. HURT!!!
I didnt use glasses for a few years. at 2006, I started to get eyepain.
I used glasses again for astigmatim.
It helped but I still had pain. I realised that I had abarasions caused by the surgury, which reduced me sight, and caused eye strain. I am sure the clinic where I did the operation knew about it, but didnt tell me.
After a year of debating I thought about doing another surgury.
I felt ashamed about it, and didnt tell anybody besides my wife. She said I shouldnt do it. The pain was very disturbing. I have made an appointment in the first place I went to. I didnt check anyother place, because I thought if it meant to succeed it will and if not not. Also it is located in a respecatable hospital and I trusted them.
I went to the clinic. I felt very bad about it, and wanted to cancel.
The manager called me for "advicing". He said there is no risk in this operation.
I was under the pressure of the pain, and decided to do it.
I did the operation.
My eyes became very dry after the operation, and it was very painfull.
I went for a checkup after a week. The doctor said I should not use more then six lubricant drops a day, and gave me refresh tears with preservatives.
Iwas terribly suffering. I called the clinic a few times, but they talled me in the phone there is no nead to come.
I went after a month. I saw very bad in the right eye. The doctor said I will see very sharply, more then the average in the end. She still didnt treat my dry eyes.
After 3 months I went again. My sight didnt improve. The doctor said I should come again after 3 months to see if I should do another operation. Again nothing about dry eye. From reading later I realised the ignoring the dry eye made it permanent, and also damaged my sight, disturbing the eyes from healing..
The pain was unbearable and I went again for another doctor in the clinic. He said I should use lubricants every hour. again lubricants with preservatives, although it is not recommended for severe dry eye to use preservatives. He said dry eye should go after half a year, and my sight will be perfect.
After half a year he said dry eye should go after a year, and a year after, he said it should disapear in a year and a few months.
My sight did become better. But the pain was intolerable. I started to use glasses again for astigmatism and it helped the pain.
They were around the same perscription I had before surgury.(1 and 0.5)
When I talked to the manager he made it as a success.
After two years it was still horrible. Inbtollerable debilitating constant eye pain. I would wake up every hour or two with pain in the eyes. I could hardly work. couldnt bear wind of airconditioning. I was ashamed to tell anybody about my condition.
I would hide when I put my lubricants.
I would cry in the nights, and told my wife I want to die, and wanted to suicide.
I went to many doctors. the manager of the clinic still insisted it will go away, and his doctor that everything is fine.

It felt like they think the important thing is that most clients are satisfied, and they take into account that some are not, and that is fine.
They put temporary plugs in my eyes. It actually made things worse.

I think she meant to ban the fireworks in the next coming legislation session. Seeing she got nothing done.

What in the heck are you talking about in relation to this article with this long story about your eye surgery??? Sorry to hear you are having these issues, but this long story just came out of left field.
Your detailed story doesn't even mention anything about the fires...except for your name and the 1st sentence.

Don't you ever think before you post or are you not getting enough sleep at the control tower??

You don't care what the topic is, you just get your jabs in at Susana and you'll be a happy little fella. You are so hung up on her that you don't even bother with the politics in you area!

Instead of being an armchair critic, get off your rear and come help fight the MANY fires, you may learn something worthwhile for a change and be of some use.

One of your more endearing posts, like you have a clue. Obviously forest fires and their potential are not a concern of yours, especially having lived in NM at one time.

She's bound by state law and can't ban them statewide except on state land, which she has done. Its an action that the legislature needs to take, and they dumped on one of their own(Dede Feldman) when she last introduced such a bill(Thu Journal article). Until we the people are willing to police ourselves, we'll need another entity to do it for us.

Oh silly me, I forgot to laugh at your constant hammering at "my girl." Anything that happens in NM, serious or not, I should know to laugh at your "Susana effect continues" political humour first. Never mind that the whole damn state is on fire!

Sorry, just spoke with the Governor's office and she has NOT banned fireworks on state land. NMMSH will still legally hold their large fireworks display.

Fireworks are banned on state WILDlands, not state owned property.

Yea right, like the governor will expect people to care about this area. and exert self control on buying fireworks...not happening! Parents don't teach there children or young adults crap because they do the same irresponsible things as the kids. We just have to watch our own and protect our own. Sheriff deputies don't do squat so people observe and protect your area and property because law enforcement sure wont.
