McCain responded to Cruz’ I think Sen. Cruz is free to do whatever he wants to within the rules of the Senate. I will state again unequivocally that this is not something we can succeed in, that’s defunding Obamacare, because we don’t have 67 Republican votes in the Senate, which would be required to override the presidential veto.” McCain said that the people who are doing this are new, and they don’t have the experience that older Republicans had when Newt Gingrich shutdown the government.

McCain said he could not second guess why Boehner is going forward with this, but that it was obvious that he has problems within his caucus. McCain made it absolutely clear that there was zero chance an effort to defund Obamacare will not pass,“I can tell you in the United States Senate. We will not repeal or defund Obamacare. We will not, and to think we can is irrational.”

When John McCain is the voice of rational reason in the room, Republicans have a lot of problems. This is the same John McCain who still defends invading Iraq, but even he sees that there is zero chance of any bill that defunds Obamacare passing the Senate. Even if the bill did pass, Republicans don’t have enough votes to override the certain presidential veto. It is just not going to happen

Clint Murphy, Former GOP Staffer, Embraces Obamacare After Health Struggles

Clint Murphy, a 38-year-old former GOP staffer, offered a surprising message to his conservative peers last week, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. After his own battle against testicular cancer and subsequent struggle to obtain health insurance coverage, he now supports Obamacare, the very program against which the Republican Party has fought for months.

"When you say you're against [Obamacare]," Murphy posted on his Facebook page, "you're saying that you don't want people like me to have health insurance."

His mother was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2008, prompting Murphy to return home at the election's conclusion instead of finding a new job.

"At the time, I ran the risks with no health insurance," Murphy told HuffPost, explaining that he would go without coverage for the next two years. Although he had been cancer free for years, he was rejected by two major insurance companies on the basis of other pre-existing conditions -- sleep apnea and the use of anti-anxiety medication. He was briefly covered in 2011 under the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan of the Affordable Care Act.

While most GOP lawmakers have not offered support for Obamacare, several prominent Republicans, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, have similarly stressed that the party should be focusing on alternative solutions, rather than singularly attacking the president's program.

Talk of defunding the program and the looming possibility of a government shutdown may threaten the Affordable Care Act. For now, however, Murphy is looking forward to signing up when Georgia's health care exchanges open in October.

"As a cancer survivor, I live in constant fear that it could always come back," Murphy told HuffPost. "[I] am just counting down the days till I can apply through the exchanges for coverage," he said, "and praying that nothing goes wrong with my health between now and then."

"I'm glad Obamacare is here to stay", replies Murphy.

The Republicans who are pushing defunding are doing so for their own benefit. Ted Cruz knows that defunding Obamacare will never pass the Senate, but he sees a chance to boost his possible 2016 presidential campaign by threatening a filibuster.(This would also allow him to match Rand Paul’s filibuster, and even in the score in the hearts of Republican primary voters.) McCain’s right. If Republicans shutdown the government over the ACA, they may end up losing the House.

The bigger problem is that the Obamacare jihad that the far right of the GOP is on is tearing the party apart. Older and more experienced Republicans are lining up against their inexperienced colleagues in a battle to prevent the ideologues from destroying the party. The conventional wisdom was that the Republicans can at least agree on getting rid of Obamacare, but that’s not true. Republicans can’t agree on anything.

What Republicans are doing is not irrational, it’s downright stupid. The Republican Party is getting to close to a full on collapse, and Democrats are more than happy to cheer them on.

The employees would've ended up there anyway. Their coverage was a scam - expensive monthly premiums that provided less than $5,000 in coverage. Totally useless in today's healthcare environment. Home Depot employs 340,000 people.

We've got to get past this false dichotomy.
Things are much more complicated than right versus left .
The truth is we have:
1) A largely traitorous political elite that thrives on divide and conquer and that will lie cheat, steal, basically do almost everything to maintain the insane status quo that enriches them. They could care less that we are selling out our future to maintain this status quo in the form of runaway debt and deficits. There game is the age old Tammany Hall strategy of buying votes with other people's money in the form of entitlements.
2) Extremists and news junkies that are easily distracted by the left versus right paradigm and basically fall into the trap of the elites time and time again, wasting all of their energy hurling ad hominem attacks at each other. Sound familiar?
3) The vast majority of the American people who include:
a) A largely ignorant and lazy soon to be majority of self-centered entitlement junkies who only care about what they can get out of this unsustainable system of ours.
b) An overworked and increasingly under-paid soon-to-be minority of hard working Americans who see a nation in decline by virtually every measure and standard imaginable.
At this stage, I cannot help but be pessimistic.
The hard working Americans are getting attacked on all fronts, demonized, marginalized, taxed and regulated into oblivion. The elite just keep getting richer and have complete control of our schools and media. The sheep either swallow their lies or get marginalized as extreme. Virtually every standard of achievement, excellence, integrity has been compromised.
I predict only catastrophe followed by all out collapse of the rule of law and possibly civil war if we cannot find a way to diverge from our current course..

Oh yeah...it would come down to us good guys versus you friggin idiots.
You would stand as much of a chance of victory as you would in your congressional effort to defeat "Obamacare".

Especially after Obamacare gets going and people will understand its benefit to them like no pre-existing condition exemption, etc.

So, Bring it on ...we are waiting for you Baggers to go violent...we will respond. Then you will experience Obamacare firsthand....let us know how you like it.....ok.

The Republicans are like that Biblical figure who was anxious to split the baby in half.
The true loyalist, the true patriot, the MOTHER said, NO, give her the baby rather than split it in two.
The Republicans keep threatening America if they don't get their way. What is their way?? Cut all forms of aid to the poorest of the poor. Give more tax breaks to the richest of the rich because it will trickle down to the poorest of the poor. In the meantime, let them starve until the scraps fall to their hungry belly.
And if the President dare not go along to reward the richest of the rich and condemn the poorest of the poor, well by golly, they will shut down America.
You know what I say?
BRING IT ON. Stand STEADY Mr. President.
