Denny Hecker dealerships suspected of sales fraud

Full story: TwinCities.com

This text is replaced by the Flash movie. Minnesota and federal investigators descended on the remains of Denny Hecker's shattered empire of automotive dealerships Wednesday, searching, they said, for possible evidence of fraudulent car sales that may have roped in unsuspecting victims from more than a dozen counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

He is a white guy so he should go to jail for business failure.

If you're minority and don't pay your mortgage, the government bails you out. If you are a white guy like Hecker and don't pay your bills, you go to jail (unless you are a union guy).

About time we are finally getting some justice here. After a few more centuries, we wuill finally be square on this. In the meantime, keep throwing these white suckas in jail!

So this started happening about six months ago, wasn't that about the same time that Denny cried about how Chrysler was treating him so unfairly? Do you think that ole Denny saw the writing on the wall, that his auto empire was about to collapse and decided to gather as much money as he could and then declare bankruptcy?

Also I like how now it's GMAC's fault. Yep Denny everyone is out to get you.

You mean white like that football player Donte Stallworth that only got a month for killing someone while driving drunk? That kind of white?

Let's say this is true, the state of MN has not received sales tax and license payments from Denny Hecker for the last six months. One thing is certain, the state is going to get its money. So does the state go back to the buyer or the dealer? My guess is the buyer.

Now with Denny Hecker in bankruptcy the buyer is not going to be able to go back to him to recoup the sales tax he paid to him when the car was sold. Or can they?

Either way I see the car buyer getting screwed and Denny Hecker moving to the Bahamas. Yep he sure knows how to help good people.

I disagree, from the timing of events, public outcry on how bad Crysler is treating him only to find out that he owes them $500m, declaring personal bankruptcy to protect his assets prior to this breaking, and now this.

No I see an umbrella drink, cot on the beach, and monthly interest payments from a bank account in the Caymans that no one knew about in his future.

This is why it is best to deal with a local 1-2 outlet dealership., rather than the wheeler dealers ! I have always bought new cars from small dealerships, after comparitive shopping. It did not cost me any more and I got that personalized treatment.

He'll be changing his zip code to another country shortly. He's gotta have a bunch of dough stashed somewhere offshore where it can't be touched.

Who in their right mind would buy a car from Southview this past March? I bought a car in March, and stayed away from Hecker dealerships like they were kryptonite. Creditors were following customers on test drives!

With the state of affairs in the rest of our country, banks and businesses, this was just a good business practice by Hecker Inc. When is he going to get his "economic stimulus"??

You are correct the BUYER is responsible for paying sales tax NOT the seller.Good luck to all the people who now will have to get in line to also sue Denny ...The state always gets their $$$

Or.........

Maybe this is nothing more than late processing at GMAC and Chrysler financial. Maybe Heckers' people handled the transaction properly on their end and the other two entities dropped the ball.

Gee, there haven't been any issues in the financial industry recently have there?

Pioneer Press, why don't you go after GMAC/Chrysler with equal zeal.
