I don't want to see people on it if they are able to work. Get them up and start working.

Stop having babies to stay on.

BUT if your unable to work cause of illness then I feel you should be on it. I worked all my life and paid for it when I did work. But Because of a car accident 5years ago I can't work full time. Believe me I would love to work full time and get more money but just unable to.

But you won't see me having kids just to stay on it or make more. Not worth it. Love kids but too old to start again.

They have put a time limit on drawing checks. I think the time line is 5 years. it maybe be shorter than that now. If you have a child 12 years or older and you don't work 20 hours a week you have to volunter 20 hours a week to draw them.
You are right...somewhat...if they have a child over 6 they have to volunteer 30 hrs a week. and it is 5 years limit unless the parent is disabled.

I think most of you are just pissed off cause the government wont help you! Stop worrying about everybody else and take care of yourself! You cant change it so leave it alone. I know a few people who are on food stamps, and they dont abuse it.
Oh but you see it's our problem. I'm pissed because it's my money that they are abusing. Thus the Gov say they need more money and guess what. I have to pay more for these dead beats. True some do need it but there are just as many who want to sit on their A**ES. I have an ex who works for cash money, gets food stamp, hud housing, medical card etc... She can work but chooses not to because she can make more off of the system. I know another person who draws so much in food stamps that she lets her mom use her card becaue she can't spend it all in a month. She to chooses to sit on her A**. All should have to either be disable or show that they are looking for a job. I don't care if it's at McDonalds. If that is all they can find, then work there and then let the Gov help out. At least they are putting money back into the system they abuse.

I am living for the day when the government is so broke that everyone will have to fin for themselves, just as in times past before anything was given away for free! I do believe that day is soon,,, especially with all state agencies and federal government so broke! Imagine everyone having to take care of themselves without any assistance, they will have to actually think for themselves, what will they do? Just imagine that senario if you can!

I believe the solution for this is very simple. People on goverment assistance should have to be the markerters. This requires no "manual labor", you can lay on the couch and do it with a portable phone. That way you can have some kind of income, this income will be collected by the goverment to go toward your abuse of the system. And if you dont log atleast 30 hours of calling a week your are eviceted from your apartment and all benefits are cut off. This takes the two most annoying people in the world and combines them.

Well, I think that if someone really needs help they should be able to receive some sort of assistance for maybe like 6 months provided that they are trying to better themselves, if after 6 months they still need the help then give them an extra 6 months. But, don't just let them stay on it forever. About, 10 years ago I was receiving food stamps myself, but only for like 6 months but, I still worked and when I found a better paying job I no longer need them. That's just like public housing its there for people to get started in life not to get start and live there forever I think with all government assistant programs there should be a time limits. People who abuse the system makes it hard for the ones that really need it.

yeah i agree with you. some ppl who aren't able to work actually need this kind of help but the ones who keep having babies get more that just wrong. i think most of it goes by income but you shouldn't just keep having babies to get more money. It should be a set limit on each household size. People who keep having babies can't afford them then they shouldn't have them.

There are still some honest people out there that really need and deserve the assistance. I put 5 years into a factory only to see them shut the doors and leave me stranded. I needed the help to keep what i had worked so hard for. And in a time like this jobs are hard to come by. I hate having someone help me out but im not to proud to ask. But i did what i had to do to survive. ive found a new job now, only making 1\3 what i was before but its a job. I got a family to support and its my responsibility to do that. Not the government. Even though ive paid in way more than i drew out, i was still embarassed to be on it.
I think the gov. assistance programs are good programs, they just need to be more tightly controlled.

and yes drug tests should be mandatory, that should be the first thing you have to do in order to recieve any benefits
