Didn't they decide to put bases closer to the actual border? Maybe I am confused, but this seems like a boondoggle.

it was said that they were about $2 million cheaper then all the other bidders. It was awarded to the lowest bidder.

This project was sent out to bid by pre-qualified contractors by the Army Corp of Engineers. Many companies from all over the country, including companies here in Las Cruces, had an opportunity to submit a proposal for this project. Being that it is a Federal project, the government is not going to just look to the local talent to build it. VEMAC happens to be a very good company out of El Paso who happens to build some awesome projects in and around the Southwest. Congratulations to the town of Lordsburg for receiving this building. Its going to be a much needed shot in the arm for them. By the way, at the moment, Lordsburg has a multi-million dollar state of the art detention center being built there. Its a growing little town.
