This church hurt me so bad, I know this is not right for a Christian to say but I hope the pastor and his wife go to hell. They have caused divorce, shunned their own children and told children to forget their parents. They lie to the pore people trapped in the church and say people that have left the church follow satan now. They are cruel and inhuman. They tore my family apart and tore me away from my friends. They have ruined my life. I hate them so much. I hope the pastor reads this and thinks about what he has done.

I write all of this from experience, I used to go there. I wish I never did.

You are not alone. I am sure they want you to think that you are, that there is "nothing out there" for you. This is not true. You are not alone. You do not have to live in a box in body, mind, and spirit. You are free to live and serve and love the way God intends you to. He WILL bless and heal you! I, too, know from experience!

Pro 14:15 The simple believes every word: but the prudent man looks well to his going.

I knew a family that I liked very much, the parents had two daughters and a son. Their son left home, for whatever reason, and said many derogatory and hurtful comments about his family. I would have traded places with their son as I loved the family very much and didn't agree with what he said.

Heb 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled.

Bitterness and rebellion are bed fellow and neither comes from a right relationship with Christ....something to think about.

This church is almost not a church. They are almost a cult. They twist the Bible's teachings to suit what they want their members to believe. They teach exclusion of anything not associated with their church or what they believe. They originally formed about 20 years ago as a branch of Lakeview Christian Life Church in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pa. Yet curiously, they have barely any more members than what they started with. They have their own school that teaches superiority to the kids. They trap them in a bubble from the outside world and teach that they can have no association with it. They have no acceptance or regard for anything or anyone outside their "family of churches. They will turn their backs on their own families just for going to another church. Basically, only they are right and every other believer is wrong, which is totally against what Jesus teaches. Don't visit, you will be running for the door to leave very shortly.

To "reader of comments"...
Proverbs 14:15 also applies to you and any other of the "faithful" who blindly follow the teachings of over controlling leaders. Do not underestimate the amount of spiritual and emotional damage that is inflicted through isolation, exclusivisim, suffocating control, fear, and relationship control (including shunning). It is no wonder that those who break the chains and emerge need healing. Blaming the victim is rampant. Read up on how Jesus rebuked the pharisees and ask yourself, are the instructions and expectations of my leaders more like the pharisees or more like Jesus? The next time you or anyone else is expected to cut off (cut ties, not associate with, etc.) a family member or friend, remember the words of Jesus..."I desire compassion, not sacrifice." Matthew 9:13

Regarding the judgments (above) This comment is not intended to be "mean" nor is it "nuts." Whether you "disagree" or not, it is intended to be a plea for compassion...compassion for those who have left, as well as compassion for those who are considering leaving, as well as compassion for those who remain for whatever reason. My prayer is for forgiveness, healing, and reconcilliation, as these are the things that unite, not the things that divide.

We had a horrible experience at this church. Iy is no a church it is a cult. They tell you how you can dress, what movies you can watch, who you can and can't talk to and even who you should vote for. They break up families, they tried to break up mine. This is all personal experience and I am willing to share our experiences with anyone that is considering attending this place.

This place is associated very closely with the Lakeview Christian Life Church in Pittsburgh. There has been lots of negative press on the internet lately and it is the culmination of years of mistreatment and deception towards its present and former members. This very weekend, the senior pastor from Pittsburgh is in Cleveland suring up the ranks as the numbers continue to decrease weekly. I am thankful that there are so many who are gaining the boldness to stand up and speak against the mind control and emotional and spiritial abuse that is rampant in this association. I pray for the pastor and his congregants in this church to be freed from the controlling hand of a man who is losing his grip of power on his people and his association.

Check out the CitySeach Lakeview Christian Life Church Bridgeville PA reviews. I was a member there for years. North Ridgeville is a clone of Lakeview. The leaders of both cults claim to speak for God, so who can question their absolute rule? This is a diabolical deception designed only to manipulate and control their followers.

To the victims in these cults: Trust your reasoning, and know that "prophecy ... ceased" (1 Cor 13: 8) when the canon of scripture was complete. "...when the perfect [or "complete"] comes, the partial will be done away" (1 Cor 13:10). I know that's not how these verses were taught at North Ridgeville, so consider this new knowledge to be your first step in your new quest for Truth! You will have a LOT of UNlearning to process!

Step two: Get out of North Ridgeville!! Cling to the scriptures alone as the only authority to determine how we are to live before God and man.

Step three: Find a real church that knows how to rightly divide the Word of Truth. You will be amazed at how clear God's Word is when a legitimate pastor simply preaches the Bible and lets the people take it or leave it. If you're truly regenerated, you will soak up every word. You will explode for joy!

Let us forgive this man, and hope that he repents. Each of us will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.

MAT 7:21-23:“Not everyone who says to Me,‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them,‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

It has taken me over a year to gather the courage and my thoughts to write this. First of all, know that I'm not writing this in a spirit of accusation or bitterness. I simply want to relate my experiences and the results of my choices to provide guidance. If you are attending this place and read this, this is not an attack. I want to provide as much information as possible so people can make informed decisions of their own free will as God intended.

I grew up in this place and knew nothing different for over 20 years. I was taught that the only relationships I should have should be with others in the same place or affiliated churches (Lakeview Christian Life Church for one or others in Columbus and Maine). These churches were considered to be the only churches with the "truth". Authority is extremely controlling. It was also very legalistic. Legalism was hidden behind a "just as" doctrine that held people to unattainable standards. Books, movies, music, entire genres were prohibited from the pulpit. Clothing/modesty rules were very specific and strictly enforced. There was no room for free will. It was do it this way or you are wrong and will be reprimanded.

Love was conditional. If you were "strong", according to their standards, you were held up as an example and applauded. They left no room for weakness. You were simply reprimanded for not being strong.
Scripture was twisted and cherry picked such as 2 Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be unequally yoked to unbelievers". They used this scripture to prohibit marriage simply because one party spoke in tongues and the other didn't. One was considered born again and the other wasn't. Never mind that both parties grew up there and attended in the same capacity and were both and still are both dedicated believers.

I saw people shun my parents when I was still "in" and experience it now that I'm out. When my brother and parents left, shunning them was flat out not an option in my heart. One thing that made me angry before I left was how people treated me as if my family had died. I wanted to shout "They're not dead! They're still alive and faithfully serving God" When my husband and I (then dating) made the decision to leave I was immediately left for dead. Not a single person reached out to me. Literally NO ONE. My husband on the other hand was bombarded. Calls, texts, visits, can we talk, can we pray, remember the good times etc. Rumors were spread. The hardest thing after I left, and it still is, is the complete lack of closure. People as close as family to me never even said goodbye. One day we were like family and two days later nothing, to this day. I just can't understand it. I literally get the same feeling when I try to think about infinity as when I try to understand their shunning. Unfathomable is the best word I can think to describe it. I would give almost anything to restore relationships with family and friends that I love.

I have not attended this church, but I know a wonderful Pastor and his wife who were a part of this cult for many years. When they began to teach the "truth", their church was taken away from them, and their family, as well. Their adult children have been told that their parents are their enemy, and they have been told to shun them..treat them as dead. This precious Godly couple have had no contact with their family for several years, and continue to be hurt by this ungodly association. Pray for the eyes of those held captive to see the light of truth. May God in His mercy restore all those damaged, and reunite these families. There is another way and help for those who want it.

Many years ago I had family who went to this church. I visited one time with them and told them I'd never go back there. The oppression I sensed was horrendous. I began praying for their eyes to be opened and they were. They eventually left and are serving The Lord in a healthy church.
So many comments on this website and the Lakeview one are so pitiful and sad. It's really hard to imagine that the treatment these people have experienced is at the hands of a pastor. I do know and have sen first hand the shunning which is practiced against those who choose to escape. If you are there, ask The Lord to reveal His truth to you and He will. You will then come to the inescapable conclusion those who leave have found. Pray that the other captives will be set free.
