That is an amateur thief, I would have stolen the ear too! Thieves just don't put in enough time learning their craft like they should, learn to hide in shadows, pickpocket, open locks, detect traps, it all takes a great deal of questing and experience and dealing with annoying NPC's to get good at it.:) The gimme it now generation in operation.

Plus thieves should watch all the CSIs, Forensic Files, 48-Hours, Cops, etc. that they can. It isn't like there are colleges for that in modern times. They once had guilds. There might actually be a modern thieves guild (according to a guy I met who claimed to have a purple robe that he wore to such meetings). Of course, there are related criminal groups. Some have "unions" (gangs), and may learn things in such an environment.

I've seen organized fraudsters in action before. One scam are the "deaf" people who sell cards or slips of paper. The only thing is that most aren't deaf. I remember seeing this Black lady going off. She wanted to kick a White woman's ass. See, a man approached her with a card claiming he was deaf and asking for money. Well, the leader of this gang of "deaf" people was sitting at a bus stop. The man who approached the angry woman had has back turned to his handler. She spoke and signed for him to come to her. Signing to someone's back doesn't help, so how could he hear her, unless of course he had good hearing and responded to her voice? So the sista caught on right away and was going to beat the handler's ass. But her friend and my friend held her back and told her it wasn't worth it. She rode with us part of the way back on the light-rail train until we exited it for the bus.

I wondered about the logic. In the day of canal aides, as opposed to OTE (over the ear) or ITE (in the ear) aides, he could still be fitted with two if he needed them. But they also have good reconstructive surgery where if they cannot put it back or build something similar out of flesh, they have prosthetics. Ear prosthetics are mostly used in children until they stop growing enough to where cosmetic surgery would be a good option.

And then there is the other logical conundrum. Assuming there were only OTE hearing aides and no surgery nor prosthetics, then there is a catch-22 situation. Why would you use it in a good ear, and how will you use it over a missing ear?

LOL! I love discussing things fully and considering every angle. That gives me great pleasure and fun.

I hope the guard is a Star Trek fan and gets Spock ears. Live long, and prosper, and don't chop off my freaking ears.
