Yes- some changes are needed. But this mish-mash of politicians' wish lists put together in less than a month by people who know nothing about economics or the insurance industry is not it. It's very ambiguous- it could be interpreted many ways- that's why no-one really understands it, least of all the people who are defending it.
Even Markey said, "I think this is a really big deal, and a huge amount of money and it's incumbent on all of us to think it through and get it right." Good advice, even if she is only saying it to save her job in 2010- at least she sees the forest for the trees.
