Are strip searches next?

It's candy! I always bring candy..cheaper at Walgreens than at the show!

You'd think the theaters would get the message.

Next time, go to Cascade Drive-In and bring ALL your own food problem free!

I love it. The movie theatre employee was 100% in the right. I wish that young movie theatre employee worked for me! Business need more employees like that.

We once brought empty cups to share a large popcorn (purchased from their concession stand) with our kids at this theater and were forced to throw them away.

The crappy/broken seats at the Buffalo Grove Theaters aren't worth the $2 admission.

Oh, oh, beware of the candy police.
Perhaps the patron was diabetic and needed it to control their blood sugar levels. Perhaps they were really not very well off/recently laid off and going out to a movie was a big treat for 'em, but, they couldn't afford to pay the outrageous costs for candy that the theater charges, etc, etc.
I'm sorry, but, whomever owns and/or operates that theater isn't very... nice. Personally, I always bring a small bottle of water into movie theaters with me - I use it to take medications with. I'm not about to pay the $3+ for a bottle of water {nor disturb other patrons to leave my seat during a film and/or risk Swine-Flu and goodness knows what from a public-fountain}.
Man, America sure has become a tacky place to live.
One can only hope that what goes around comes around and that when either the owners/operators and/or employee of that theater are in a jam {flat tire in the middle of the night} will get the same courteous treatment they've handed out to others.
What a load of....

If you disagree with the theatre, that's fine.
But apparently posters who had a different opinion were deleted.
Everyone has a right to make a comment, whether you agree with it, or not.

So if we go into a restuarnt we shouldnt pull out a DVD player and watch a movie at the table?

Give me a break...I always bring in the following to every movie I attend:

*baggie of trail mix
*bottle of water
*favorite candy bar
*toothpick

Those thieves at the show make about 4000% profit on that fluff they call popcorn. They ought to spend more time silencing loud, talkative and rude patrons so the rest of us can enjoy the product we actually paid for.
Been there - done that

I can sort of understand they need to make their money somewhere with the $1 & $2 ticket prices. I could understand kicking someone out for being abusive. But I had a run in with this establishment's management over a lost item for pete's sake. This management is hostile at best. My daughter lost her glasses and knew exactly where she lost them and they wouldn't let her in to get them. We asked them to go get them, they wouldn't. We called them 4 times in 48 hours to find out if they'd found them they hadn't. Based on my daughters description of where she lost them, my husband and I broke down and bought tickets to the movie two days later and low and behold the glasses were EXACTLY where she had left them. All we could think was -- EWWWW. If they had cleaned the theater, or sent someone into the theater to look, they would have found them instantly. I went to let the the manager know we'd found the glasses, and he had the gaul to yell at me about not having time. I thought I was being courteous so they wouldn't have to look after leaving four messages, and I got yelled at. Obviously, they never intended to look for the glasses.

I agree that management may be a bit hostile at this location, and yes, prices on concessions are probably high. But there are two points I want to make.
#1 - the admission price is a steal, and their concessions aren't priced as high as first run theaters, so while it is still high, for what it is it is a bargain.
#2 - It is posted at this theater no outside food or drink. Play by the rules, folks, or get thrown out. It's very simple.
for those who need food or drink for medical reasons, bring a note from the Dr. and make sure the quantity is sized for your use only, not your entire group.
If too many people abuse this, the theater will go under and we won't have a choice but to pay 5 times this amount in order to see a movie in the theater.

Why is this in the newspaper?

I saw a fender-bender this weekend in Wheeling that deserves a story over this complete nonsense.

What message? Jesus H...we were doing this as kids over a decade ago. It was well-understood among us kids that it was a "cat and mouse game". If you got caught, you stuff got thrown out. If you didn't get caught, you saved a couple of bucks on candy.

There is no "message" to be gotten here unless you're not as smart now as I was at 13 years old. If you'd truly be shocked at this if you were found out, you really should grow up before going out again.

I mean really...is this that hard for supposed "adults" to understand? Maybe you should ask your kids for some tips on how to play the game of life.

The real message is that Schillergril is a spoiled brat, who does not want to obey the rules set forth by the business. If you cannot follow the posted rules, go elsewhere.

I don't necessarily disagree, but as someone who only occasionally buys popcorn, candy or soda at the theater, I'd rather pay less for my movie ticket and have the theater make up the difference on concessions.

Like I said, candy and such was overpriced a DECADE AGO when I was a kid sneaking candy into the theater. And again, we did so with the understanding that if we were caught either we and/or our candy would be thrown out of the theater. If these two "adults" could not understand that, then we're all better off if they just stay home and watch HBO.

Now-a-days, I figure I'm too old for that nonsense; I'll pay the extra $2 for a box of Sno Caps so as to avoid getting thrown out of the theater and wasting $5-10 on a ticket for a movie I end up not seeing.

Its not right to bring in candy/drinks/etc......but management here is rude. I was with a friend who had a small bottle of water and the manager, who looked like a homeless woman, was very rude when she asked for the bottle of water - she was also holding, grahm crackers, cookies, chips, juice, etc....from other patrons, i'm sure its just her way of eating for the day.......because its the only theater I've been to that actually checks for food items.....whatever....the place is a dump and really not even worth going to....last time the movie started i had to go ask them to open the curtains so we could actually SEE the movie....they don't have time to open the curtains, clean the place, clean the bathrooms, but they DO have time to take your small snacks.....this is the biggest news since Drew Peterson!
