The parish has chosen poorly, it seems. The tiny parish from where he was vicar in Washington has shrunk from an attendance of 46 in 1999 to 34 in 2007. So it is very dubious whether the new rector can "grow" a church. And St Andrews needs to grow and not decline. There is some funny business in the stats submitted to the national church from St. Andrews Ben Lomond. The numbers for 2004 and 2005 are exactly the same (attendance of ~75) as are those for 2006 and 2007 (attendance of ~65). Those numbers are better than the dramatic declines for the diocese of El Camino Real.
If he repeats his performance in Washington, the parish is probably not long for this world.
Of course, decline is not unexpected when you replace the gospel for a liberal secular political cause.
