Sad story and a case of how one quick decision under duress can change your life or end someone else's. Do hope the victim is tested for drugs and especially for steroids , just sounds like one of those road warrior macho overpumped tough guys looking to show off his toughness.... and it cost him his life.

The late Porsche driver idiot is a 100 percent responsible for his own death. Had he stayed in his car this story would not even in the news. He freaked the kid out causing his own untimely demise.

Sounds like the kid can use the 'He Needed Killing' defense.
With the 911 call and the number of witnesses, I think the Grand Jury will let him walk.

I would have run that S.O.B. over too, and I hope I get called for Jury Duty (that is, if that miserable D.A. Rice is stupid enough to press charges.)

I hope this incident comes as no surprise to anyone.. forget the circumstances or the alleged histories of the two sad individuals involved in this tragedy. Not only does L.I. rival Beverly Hills in income but I would be willing to bet that we will not be far behind California in the amount of agressive driving incidents. On Long Island we love to deny this dirty little secret or blame the poor over-burdened police for lack of enforcement HA ! There aren't enough police in the state to handle the over agressive ,me first, lawlessness that is totally commonplace on L.I.'s roads today. In westerns years ago settlers used to talk about "Dodge City" or "indian territory" well let me tell you pardner that is exactly what driving is today ..I am sure every person in your office, school,or neighborhood has an accident or road rage story to share. So what's the answer ? Look in the mirror pal ..as Pogo once said "We have met the enemy and it is us ."

Punk kid in Altima must have tried to be macho. Than -b i t c h- ran for it when the guy in the porche took the punk up on its offer. I see these little chicken-s-h-i-ts in the Altima all the time. Thinking they own the road than runs for it like a scared little girl when someone takes them to task on it.

Unfortunately, you hit the nail on the head. There is way too much selfish stupidity on LI. I often get the feeling that drivers of expensive and faster cars feel that entitles them to drive like aholes... as if having money for a high priced car is a legal excuse for speeding through school zones (but not near their kids schools!). Or - riding up your butt on a pkway, where I have the nerve to do only 5 miles over the speed limit in the middle lane. It's hard to work up any sympathy for the porsche driver... if these witness accounts are accurate, he went looking for trouble.

What I can never understand, is if you are in so much of a hurry that you need to drive like an ahole, how do you all of a sudden find the time for a confrontation?

While I feel for Ian Sharrin;s family, he caused his own death. A tough macho testerone laden piece of garbage palying tough with a short skinny malink kid who was probably sh*tting in his pants when this occurred. Evan Potts was cornered. He didn;t have a choice. Even though he did call the police via 911 Ian came on him like a raging bull & was going to beat the living daylights out of him. evan was scared so sometimes you have to do what you have to do. If not your life it will be him & that's what happended. To the sistr in alw calling Evan Potts an animal. You shouldn;t talk. Look in the mirror. Ian was the animal involved. He made his bed & now he's lying in it FOREVER! 6 feet under. Rot in hell Ian. As far as Evan Potts goes, hopefully the truth comes out & he walks away. Not Guilty.

We know who's is at fault. Both of them... One man lost his life by being angry at someone who did not matter to him.. Another will spend his living with the knowledge he kill a man in rage and that might be behind bars. I mean come on! Both of these people did horrorible things, reguardless of the situation. Why can't we just deal with our own problems and stop making it a embrassment to be human.

Sounds like a big bully to me.
Don't really care if you're 6'3", you can't stop a car!!!!!
Wonder if he would have started this crap if the other driver was 6'4"?????

I dunno about the truth but I'm sure his parents will provide him with a nice high priced lawyer and he'll be just fine...

you are waaay too smart to be on topix.

what amazes me is the amount of morons on here that believe that the idiot in the porsche d e s e r v e d to DIE because he was bigger than the little idiot in the other car, and possibly threatened him.

that little dude is gonna be real sore after a week in prison, hope it was worth it.

He COULD have stayed in his car and simply waited for the police, ya think????

Porsche= entitlement card

These are the same drivers who think they rule the road. They tailgate me on the middle lane while I'm driving in the flow of traffic. The Altimas are nooo better. They should both go to hell!!

This is a horrible tragedy. There's no doubt in my mind that this driver got himself killed. Sounds like he was completely out of control. Some poor 22 year old kid's life is now ruined, and he now has to come to terms with what happened. I am certain the driver felt immensely threatened and was just trying to get away from the situation and did not mean to hit him or run him down. I would have tried to get away too if I felt my life was in danger. He was perused, blocked in, and attacked. How can someone allow themselves to snap like that? What a mess. Just a terrible situation all around. I feel for both families involved.

Just another reason why I left Long Island 13 years ago. I tense up driving there when visiting family. You can feel the rage on the roads. It is very real.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Scorpio

The thought of the sales is almost too good to resist today, and you'll jump at the chance to see what's on offer. Even better if you can snap up some bargains at the same time. It's certainly a good day for investing your money carefully, but make sure you aren't more seduced by the reduction in the cost of something than in the item itself. Are you certain that you want to buy it?
