Husband, wife killed in car crash

A husband and wife died when their car was hit in Oceanside Saturday, Nassau police said.

I live near Foxhurst and Oceanside Road. People are nuts driving through that intersection. Jumping red lights there is an epidemic.

My friends live right there by that corner. People are always flying down Foxhurst. How many complaints, accidents or deaths have to happen before something is done. Last year a boy was hit. And why isn't Brown being charged? There was an eye witness who saw her run the light. They should put speed bumps near the lights or extra traffic lights.

How about the accident on Atlantic Ave last week by the Post Office. It was really bad. In the Post Office they said a son was driving his mom & dad & that he was speeding. The father ended up in the truck & I think the mother lost her arm. People just don't care anymore how they drive, it's acary.

The Rowes were genuinlly nice & humble people. They wouldn't hurt a fly. Sad that their lives should end in such a horrific manner. And if Ms. Brown ran a light as was mentioned may have happened, then I hope charges are pressed. My thoughts are with Betty & Bob's 3 sons, daughters-in-laws and all their grandchildren. They will be missed...but we'll always remember Betonbob.

Laws of physics. Go back to school. Ms Brown ran the light heading west. The Rowes car heading north can't be hit on the side so hard as to kill the couple if Ms. Brown wasn't going so fast. Last I checked you can't barrel into a car, let alone a Camry, and kill 2 people if you're just entering an intersection from stopping at red. Maybe if they were in a ford focus. I cannot imagine why Newsday would allow these vile expressions of hatred and racism. The insensitive nature of a comment board such as this is shameful. These were real people with a real family who are grieving. I am shocked at the level of depravity exhibited by some of the individuals who posted comments. They are pathetic at best. This isn't about freedom of speech, its about being sensitive to the famiy of these two people who were so tragically killed. I read these Newsday boards from time to time and am appaled at the level of discourse that is allowed on them. I'm all for freedom of speech, but it comes with responsibility and respect for the feelings and rights of others. For people to write some of the inflammatory things they write here just makes me feel sad for the state of things in the world today. Just because you have freedom of speech doesn't mean you should use it to mock people- whether it be the people who died in this accident or the person who survived the accident. Of course, its easy to remain anonymous on the Internet and not be held at all responsible for what you say here- but I wonder how many of you would make these same comments to the Rowe family if you were standing face to face with them as they prepare to bury their beloved parents? Its really sickening.
Although I myself never met the Rowes, I do know the family and my thoughts and prayers are with them tonight.
