why would a mother rather believe that her daughter was murdered rather than she ran into the marsh by accident??? How can she discount that possibility??? was she there??? Also what's with the justice cry, how really does finding the killer help? Closure??? Maybe cause ya didn't take care of her as well as you should have and now you're showing out. Not even gonna go into how she even found herself in the postion she ended up in.

I find it really interesting that the family can afford a lawyer but couldn't seem to afford keeping their daughter out of prostitution. Nice priorities there, dirtbags.

I find it very suspicious that the same cop who found the first body, found Ms. Gilbert's as well. Is it just me, or are the police looking at one of their own? It kind of reminds me of the volunteer fireman who starts the fire then is the first at the scene soaking up all the glory! Please let me know what you think Topix people. we need to nab this killer

Interesting take about the cop. I was unaware of that information. I also can't understand how a family knowingly would just stand by as their daughter, sister, etc. would live the life a prostitute. This case in particular sends the radar up that something is awry. I smell a rat.

Now she's grandstanding and calling the cops "clowns" fishing for a lawsuit no doubt. Hope she doesn't need the cops anytime soon.

Its pretty rich that a mother who couldn't keep her daughter out of prostitution has the nerve to call anyone else "incompetent".

They found the remains of 10 people ...so this guys found 2 - you cant go for a walk in oak beach without tripping over someone's femur . One set of remains matched two amputated legs found 15 years ago. that is one patient serial killer

You are all kinds of retarded. How the hell can one "afford" to keep a grown ass woman out of prostitution?? She did what she wanted to; she was of age, you dumb twit. You have females who come from rich families who decide to become a prostitute-it has nothing to do with her family, you idiot!

Whatever you say, Mrs. Gilbert.

I find it sad that everyone keeps referring to Shannon that way..yes..that's what she did as a living..but..she was a human..she was a daughter..a sister..a friend..does it make it ok that she was killed just because of what she did for a living?! As for her mother..do any of you know for a fact that her family didn't try to get her out of that life style,? What I see is a grieving mother who want to get to the truth..about her daughters death..think before you judge..

she put herself in harm's way w/no regard for her loved ones. No she didn't deserve to be killed but she put herself in that position. Just makes her a little less of a victim than her family makes her out to be. You can't fault the cops because she made a bad decision. I mean ya really think they don't want answers????

I had the same suspicion about the officer. He is just randomly walking on a remote highway?

What happened with her last client and the driver? Was there any connection with them and the other 10 dead people. I understand that the family is grieving over their loss, but why do they need to act like the cops are stupid? The we're on the ID channel this morning making repeated slams at the police. I am sure the family knows more than they are saying. Remember Gilbert family, the cops are the good guys so stop trashing them. If it wasn't for them Shannon's body would never have been found. And didn't two sisters go there a week or two and look for her? Why didn't you find her body?
