holes in charge..
Long Beach, NY
Nassau to halt shipment of grease to Bay Park plant
The county said Friday it will stop the shipment of up to 225,000 gallons of used cooking grease a week to the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant, which has been blamed by area residents for emitting foul smells.

I agree with this statement. Discarded cooking oils are being used in diesel powered trucks here in florida. Smells like french fries when on the road, not that oily smell that usually belches out of the exhaust pipes. |

Great posts guys. You would think that the powers that be at all levels would be talking about using those type methods and energy conservation on a daily basis. We hear nothing. What a disgrace. Thanks for the posts.

East Rockaway & Oceanside are white trash and mixed with mexicans & Blacks. Ship Greese and all the other junk you have there.
|
You're a mean person! Get a life. |

I live in Oceanside. I think there are 14 non-white people there. But you're so smart you already knew that. Typical Massapequa punk.

Hey, I'm from Massapequa and can say it "was" a nice place to live back in the day. Now, it has white trash, mixed with mexicans and blacks.

Sp what are they going to do with 225,000 gallons a week of grease instead?
|
|
|
Mmm, french fry grease.
I don't think there is one black person living in East Rock. We would never stand for that sort of thing. |

Jeff Toback (D-Oceanside), who represents the area.
has come under harsh criticism from residents of East Rockaway and other neighborhoods around the plant for supporting Suozzi's plan to consolidate the county's sewage system......Next time around no one is voting for him!!! Toback will be out of office because of they way he treated people. |
|
[[[However, the president of the Long Island Chapter of the New York State Restaurant, Francis Dorazi, said the increased cost was "just another nail" in a restaurant industry that is being pinched by a bad economy and rising oil prices.]]]
hey, its a private business' grease, they should pay for it to be hauled. and bad economy and rising oil prices are hurting everyone. stop crying. |

Isn't it sad? This is Rob from Massapequa's 15 minutes of fame. This is what his life is all about. This is his signature statement. So sad.

If we had a biodiesel plant not a disposal plant to "dispose" of this fat waste think of the double benefit environmental and cost wise in this !14/bbl. cost of oil. The fuel could be used to run the County's trucks and surplus sold to others.
Oh well, save the taxpayers' expense with sound bites. |

Question:
Where in the local area is a facility or facilities that can handle 225,000 gallons of additional fats, oils and grease on a weekly basis ? None...oh, you think that Suozzi will send it all to the Glen Cove sewage treatment plant that the county just took over? Hey north shore residents, now you get a taste of some extra smells and odors. |
|
|
Haul it all to the NEW COUNTY OWNED treatment plant in Glen Cove, just in time for the waste and smell's to put the cherry on top of the proposed high end housing development just up wind from the plant.
