Obviously the guy who forgot to close the seacock is the "mechanical failure."

What makes this matter worse is that the boat sank in its slip in broad daylight.

This is what happens when civil service jobs are given to those who are politically connected rather than to those who are QUALIFIED.

What more could sink after their reputation sank after the 1989 SIC Report?

The only people who become SCPD officers are thugs and people who just want the paycheck.

Those 38 Foot Thomas Marine boats are fantastic boats. I hope they get her up and running shortly. Could not imagine not haveing her around the Great South Bay. Good security blanket bolth day and night. That boat has helped many a boater over the years and really served Suffolk County well. The Builder of those boats is extremely proud of them. Built right here on Long Island. Not manning those boats year round will put many people in jeapardy expecially with the busy summer boating season right around the corner..

Amazing how Newsday omits forums for legitimate stories when it suits their agenda but they allow them on such mediocre stories like this one, knowing it will conjure moronic statements like you see here.

Glad nobody was hurt.

I LOVE IT !!! Funny, but I had my own people in mind when I read the story. Now the above attached post.

Maybe the OBPD sunk the boat believing the SCPD/DA made a secret landing looking for evidence of brutality because they sure can't find it in the SCPD.

Many years ago the NYPD had a shoe fly named Sid Cooper. When he had to visit Staten Island he needed to take the ferry because there was no bridge. Before his car hit the ground the Bat Signal was out. So he used to go thru Jersey to come around the other way. This may be what SCPD and the DA did - they tried to invade the island using a Re-Con unit.

Immediately after this happened, the SCPD crew chief/captain was overheard saying to his subordinate "that's not what I meant when I asked you to "fill it up"".......

As they say in the commercial: "Ba Dop Bop Ba Ba - I'm Lovin' It!" If you loved them "piloting" their boats, if they killed you with their driving, thye'll "WOW" you with their double-talk...

Maybe the cop who got the two calls for the King Kullen burglary and never showed up is the cop who was in charge of the boat. Last I heard he was assigned to the Marine Bureau.

Got the call the boat was in distress and thought he was on just another 10-72 burglary alarm - no need to rush - they are all false anyway - or most of them.

Just another example of SCPD's denial and lack of accountability. A mechanical faluire.... try human error. Somebody should be getting transferred to property section over this .
