A 16-year-old alleged gang member pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge that he opened fire on a crowd of hundreds of people at Wilson's Homecoming game last month, striking and killing 16-year-old honor student Melody Ross and wounding two other people. Full Story

Tom LOVE Vinson. Never was there a more inappropriate name for a person.

Hey, Press Telegram. How about some pictures of the fleeing families members? We'd like to see what kind of a family raised such a "LOVING" individual.

"Minors were barred from the courtroom." Is this a normal thing? Or something doen specially in this case? Seems to me minors old enough top understabnd what is going on should vbe allowed in to both see how justice works and perhaps to learn what happens when you do bad things.

Hopefully this investigation will end up with a conviction, unlike the Garrett Norris murder investigation...

Life in prison without the possibility of parole should give them enough time to think about what they did.

Jim B: Minors are routinely denied admittance to criminal and civil court proceedings. They should rightly be in school, learning how to spell so that when they write something, like a newspaper comment, they don't sound like a 3rd grader.

I think Melody, being an honor student, would agree with you. And I dont think she
would want her friends to have to go through that. Not actually knowing her, just a
reflection of the person she seemed to have been.

I have to disagree with you there. Its only for a couple of hours, once or twice a month. I'd say its time well spent. I hope these Wilson High teens' teachers give them make-up assignments. Its important to be there to support Melody's family, and to witness just what happens to those with no regard for human life. And its gratifying to see the "alleged" killers going through the criminal justice system.

What is with cowards now a days. can't fight like men so they just shoot from a distance. Then the dumb A$$es miss and hit the wrong person. Good thing this pile of swamp scum did not have a chance to reproduce. at least his genetic cycle stops.

All part of the thug-gang mentality. He's been so hardened by that life, it will not occur to him what an awful thing he's done until maybe the second or third year into his life sentence. "Maybe I shouldn't have done that. I don't like being in prison, and having a boyfriend named 'Rufus'."

The teachers could also use the time spent in court to have the girls write about the experience since they are determined to go.
They and their fellow students might get an insight as to how the system works. Not just the trial but the jury's reaction to the trial. The lawyers always note with interest the jury's reactions in their examinations.

Sorry if my typos offend thee...I am one step from blind. Your grace probably never makes errors of his own or has any physical limits so I abase myself.

Mind you, you *do* seem to have made a typo of your own, but it must be my warped perception as surely one such as yourself could not be so common as to misread things.

Perhaps you can give some enlightenment to those with speech imnpediments also by reminding them they sound like third graders also.

Have the police given any details about the evidence they have against Vinson? Even "we have an eyewitness" or they found a gun matching the bullets fired at Vinson's home would be sufficient detail for me.

Or, are we pronouncing him guilty simply because the police arrested him?

My question to the little gang members: why are you incognito, get some kind of a visual recognition to let the world know who you are. "I'm a Crip and proud of it", something like that. Unless, of course, you are ashamed of being one that is.

Cowards! Our society has been breeding cowards now for way to long. No longer are the days where young boys who had disagreements with one another used their fists to settle their disputes. Now a days, these cowards we are breeding need the help of 10 or 20 other cowards to stand up to someone. There out to be a new law for these cowards, they take a life, we take theirs. Why waste my tax dollars on these cowards.

Why the reference to the perp as an "alleged" gang member? Either he is or he isn't. I recall at the press conference announcing the arrest and prosecution, the DA in charge of gang prosecutions was at the mike. Was I "allegedly" dreaming this?
If the accused is an "alleged" gang member, then I "allegedly" woke up this morning, "allegedly" did my biz in the bathroom, "allegedly" ate breakfast, "allegedly" drove to work and "allegedly" came back to read this article about an "alleged" gang member. Enough already!

Who needs laws?

A vigilante death squad will take care of the problem.
