Hi Eugene, I can not remember the name of the tractor trailer company that your father commanded, but they were in the same motor pool building as the my company, the 525th Engineer Company (Dump Truck). The motor pool was just down the hill from Jeanne d'Arc. Your father's company barracks were also in the hospital where the school was. If your parents are still alive you could find out a lot from them.Hi Erbie
My name is Eugene Haviland. My father Capt./ Maj. Haviland was stationed at Toul and commanded a trucking co.,tractor trailers,(don't remember designation).from approx 59-61 I too lived in regina village and went to school at the joan d'arc school and hospital. We also lived in the b.o.q while we waited for housing and when leaving. I lived next door to the base chaplin I think name was lt.col. cunningham and the provost marshel his name was col.snyder.Also lived four houses away from the only black officer his name was Major bembrey (sp).
I have not yet been able to make contact with anyone else that was in my company. The largest number of posts on this website that had anything to do with Toul are from people such as yourself that attended school at Jeanne d'Arc. There are also a number of posts from students that attended Verdun High School. They have had several reunions in Verdun. You might not remember, but there was no high school in Toul. Students of high school age from various bases in that part of France went to high school in Verdun and were housed at the hospital where the high school was located. They were bussed back and forth to their respective bases on weekends.
