I attended elementary school in La Rochelle, France from 52-55 when my Dad was stationed there. Ten years later, I did my last three years of high school in Orleans, France, from 62-65....probably the best six years of my life, in many ways. Damned shame that we were forced out in '67....Le Grand Charles!

When you David, toured the apartments in La Celle Saint Cloud ~ Petit Beaugard ~ were they still being used as apartments or are they condo's now? Did they look in good shape? We lived in there as well but earlier 60's.
Was the Commissary buildings etc. across the way still there? Memory blank as to name of facility.
i lived in the area on either jules verne or jules ferre, not sure, my mom mentioend in a letter from jan 1958 that they were building a new px 3 blocks from the house this was in la celle st cloud also, i went to the paris american school in 1957-58, first grade. both parents are gone so i have no one to question, i tried to google earth the house we lived in but cant find it.seems like alot of military folks lived in the petite beaugard,but we lived in houses, the other house we lived in was in Louvicennes a huge stone mansion- like house that was probably 100 years old in 1958.

Wife & I arrived in La Rochelle Jan63. Lived in Hotel delaPaix for~40 days then into LaGourd house area. Assg to 581 Engrs. Then in Feb64 to Donges Term Distr near StNazaire as post Engr. Finally, in Mar65 to Camp-de-Loges. But my station was @ Petite Beauregard as "liaison" between the French management and the residents of PB. All maint. problems were supposed to be directed to me & I should get results from "la managemente". They were sometimes less grief than the generals' wives. Remember our daughter in the French pre-shcool: the teacher had a long rope with a loop for each child and go from unit to unit collecting the class, then bring them back the same way. Dau still has the little folding stool she used.(2.5y.o.) Also recall the wine vendor who came around monthly and restocked our pantry.

My family lived at army bases in France from 1965-1967, first at Braconne, then at Poitiers, finally at Ingrandes. I belive my father was with the 202nd Military Police. We were among the last military personnel to leave France after DeGaulle removed the country from NATO command.
Cathy,
Check out this site, caserne_aboville. Look at the photo albums. There may be pics that you recognize. I was at the 599th Aemy Postal Unit at Ingrandes.
Take care.

to MIAMI POPS -- I sure hope you meant that the cute bar maid at the "Corner Bar" was Françoise, not François. If it was François, you had a date with an early transgender.

Every so often I throw these two names out in case anyone knows where either of these couples are;

Ray and Sue Ducette

Bill and Betty Morgan

Both couples lived in Petite Beauregard - I believe it was building number 9.

Ray was Navy: Bill - Army.

Did anyone of you play little league while you were in France. I was one of the coaches that took the Southern French *All American Children of G.I.s to the French Little League World Series that were held in Chateraux in 1960 or 1961. We lost the game. Also there were a number of kids that were students in Poirtier American High School. We also had a boy scout troop on our base as well. This was Fontenet Ordinance Depot *APO 259.
I played on a little league team 1960 in Paris called the Sunbeam Alpines. We went to an air base called Loyan, not sure of spelling, and lost the the all star game.
