Hi
I was stationed at Braconne from 1960- 63. I have some photos from this time ( I was in Det. A). I also revisited this area last October and made some pictures. The camp is now in ruins but I think I recognize the barracks where we used to live. I also visite Angoulême, La Rochefoucauld and Montbron (where my wife and I lived for two years.).
Would like to hear from you.

John: I was in post signal at Fontenet '55-'56. Were you US? We may have gone thru signal school together. I was at Camp Gordon from 9/54 thru 2/55, basic and then TSESS Tech. My first assignment was Fort Huachuca and another school, electrocountermeasures until an overseas levy sent me to France. Of course I am no longer a productive member of society so I post these little things these days.

My dad worked at Camp de Loge also from 1959-1960. We lived in army housing in or near Fuecherolles. I was age 6 when we arrived. All of my family who were in Paris (my mom, sister, and dad) ares all deceased except me. I have lots and lots of pictures and slides but can't say that I remember much.
Didier...my dad was stationed in El Paso a few years befor we went to France.
I would like to view some picturees of Fuecherolles today but can only locate the golf course. I'd like to see the streets and maybe even the old military housing if it is still there.
Barb check out this Google Map near Feucherolles ( http://maps.google.com/maps... ). This is where we lived.

Bonjour tout,
From 1957 - 1959, I was posted to the 33rd Field Hospital as a medical x-ray technician. This unit had an illustrious history in WWII being deactivated in 1946. However, there is no information I can find regarding the units reactivation following WWII, and during the period it was part of COM-Z during the Cold War. The mailing address for the unit was APO 11, NY, NY.

Caserne Lariboisiere is located in Fontainebleau, and now houses an advanced school for le Gendarmerie Nationale.

I was born in Bussac-Foret in 1960 and plan to travel there next year. I am very interested in finding any information I can about the area. I've been researching lodging and travel. I've finally located it on a map but still have many questions. Where can I locate more information?
<quoted text>
I am a native of this area. Bussac Forêt is located 50 Kms aways and Northern from Bordeaux. Concerning Lodging facilities, the nearest possibilities are either in Blaye "20 kms away" or Montendre "10Kms aways" but more chances in Bordeaux or Libourne. I used to work on this US Base, I was 17 years old at that time ! Now Bussac is a County Jail on one side and a French Military Training Area on the other side. Some buildings are still there! Good luscks

My father worked as a DOA civilian at COMZ hq in Orleans from Nov 64 until spring of '67 when DeGaulle kicked us all out.
We lived in apartments in town for a year, then got govt housing at La Chappelle. I went to Orleans High School and was on the wrestling team my last year there, we traveled all over France and even flew to London for a match with the American HS there.
Great reading all these posts, I'd forgotten about the Polish Guards!

Anyone who worked at Camp des Loges in Sept/Oct 1965 may have witnessed a major UFO incident in daylight hours between 10:00 am and noon. As an army brat I knew nothing about the base's communications capacity and UFOs were not part of our popular culture. If I had my Super 8 I'd still be rich.

Hello, Since the time(weather) I think that people lost the memory of names, and there are few photos of American groups.
It is known, when we make his(her, its) time(weather) of army, 1, 2 or 3 years or more, we make souvenir photos of "Skittle"!!!
I am in connection with a French civilian of Bussac having worked on the camp during of numerous years.

Bonjour,
Cordialement

For Mr MERCIER Jean,

Thank-you Mr Mercier for the infos received concerning the Fouse Family during their assignment in Bussac Army Depot in 1958. Following a non-confirmed rumour received lately, Mr Charles Fouse died in the late 1970's in San Antonio, TX. but, I would like to continue all my researches concerning this Family Fouse and the Family Stewart from Elgin, OK. as well.

Have you been back to France? My father was stationed in Fouras/LaRochelle but I was very young and don't remember much. He spent 26 yrs in the army and I've found all my old houses, schools, etc, including Germany and Okinawa. I am going back to LaRochelle/Fouras this year.

Bonjour Philippe,
I lived in Paris from 1965-1967 while my father worked at Camp de Loges. I've returned to Paris several times in the past 5 years and, although I did not look for that former base, I did tour the apartments where we lived (in La Celle Saint Cloud). The only other location in Paris that I found from the 1960s was a former American officers club on Rue Marbeuf.
David:
Was DoD civilian teacher in Verdun, France, 1963-64. Do you have or remember the address of the American Officers Club on rue Marbeuf, Paris ?
