Monday Letters to the Editor

Full story: Long Beach Press-Telegram

I am a veteran of the Korean War. There are many people in the VA, the armed forces and the news media who say that the Korean War wasn't a war; it was nothing more then a conflict, a peace action, I was there.

RE: GOP flaws
Robert, have you listened to the Democrats lately? You could apply what you wrote to either party. Pay attention to what is coming out of both parties. Its called self-serving garbage...

"I read with sadness how Melody Ross pestered her parents to be allowed to attend the homecoming football game at Wilson High on Oct. 30.

When I was teaching at Wilson soon after Cambodians began arriving in record numbers in the early 1980s, one of my Cambodian girls told me her parents finally agreed to let her attend the school dance. I asked her how she got them to give the OK. Response: "I told my mother that if she wouldn't let me go, that is child abuse, and I would call the police."

Cambodian parents need to maintain strict supervision and keep their teens off the streets after dark. Are a few moments of pleasure worth risking your life?

Gerald P. Lunderville

Idiotic, stupid, and racist crap...what does any of it have to do with Cambodians? Why not white kids? Why would the PT even print this crap?

They printed it because the teacher was underlining the fact that some Cambodians, as new immigrants in a very different culture, may not grasp the ins and outs of a new society and culture, so their kids may sometimes use that to their advantage to convince the parents to allow them to walk into unsafe situations. Nothing racist about it, you half-brained twit.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek, and all due respect to Mr. Lunderville, but when teenagers cannot go to their high school football games, the terrorists have won.

Yeah, the Democrats already had their purge when they booted Lieberman.

I'm glad you're not teaching anymore. Clearly, you are a racist. So ONLY Cambodian kids would do this? What a stupid and idiotic generalization. ONLY Cambodian parents should maintain strict supervision? IGNORANT. With your way of thinking, then Black kids shouldn't be there either because every one of them might shoot somebody.

I'm talking about BOTH parties having almost identical flaws. Everything that was said in the letter, could be equally applied to either party.

Pay attention...

Good luck talking to the two-party lemmings. They will spout their television driven party line about how the other side is evil, yet be okay with getting ripped by one of their own.

I completely agree...

There is so little difference between Democrats and Republicans anymore, it isn't really worth making a distinction. Too many people put on the blinders when it comes to that.

Seems as though everyone lives in a "Sound-Bite" world, without really doing anything towards educating themselves on what their options really are...

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
