IRVINE – An L.A. sheriff's deputy has been fired after an attack on a man with his wife that left the man and the deputy's wife hospitalized.
Police believe Robert Avery McClain, 34, assaulted his wife and another man, whose name the department would not release. Police would not comment on reports that McClain suspected the male victim of having an affair with his wife.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Aura Sierra said McClain's employment with the department has been terminated. McClain was hired in November 2007 and assigned to the department's custody division, Sierra said.
Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield said Tuesday that there were puncture marks near the victim's groin, but stressed that "any characterization of an attempted castration is way exaggerated."
The deputy was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated assault and domestic violence.
Maintenance staff arriving at a leasing office in the 1000 block of Payton called police at 7:15 a.m. Monday after finding a man injured and bleeding, Handfield said. The victim, who had been cut with a sharp instrument, was taken to a hospital.
Irvine police soon learned that McClain's wife had driven herself to another hospital, telling staff that she had been assaulted as well. She also told Irvine officers and the hospital staff that the other assault victim was an acquaintance of hers, and claimed that McClain was the assailant, Handfield said.
Police just after 9 a.m. took McClain into custody after finding him at his apartment in the 1200 block of Virtuoso.
The details of the assault remain unclear. Police believe the attack took place at the leasing office, which is at an apartment complex where the male victim resides, Handfield said.
Both victims remain in stable condition, Handfield said, although the man is still sedated and unable to talk to police.

sounds like a variation of the OJ-Nicole-Ron Goldman situation

It might be helpful to have a picture of the deputy. Just in case we meet him we would know what to expect...
If I had to guess I would say he is white and a runt.
I would guess he became a cop to beat up on guys who could stomp him in real life. Of course, that's half the cops on the job today.

Actually, the LAT said the deputy was 6-1, 200 lbs. plus. The BF was 5-9, 140 lbs.
Sheriff Baca needs to take part of the blame for this very sad incident. Deputies spend the first several years of their career locked up in the jail system with the scum. Why not let them go out on patrol, at least part time? That has to be more rewarding (and exciting) than being jail babysitters. Do you really need highly trained, physically fit, young deputies manning the jails?
This deputy spent long shifts locked in a cage with a bunch of criminals, and then came home to find his wife banging some punk. No wonder he exploded and ruined everybody's life, including his own.
In my business (which has nothing to do with law enforcement), we make the new guys do more than their share of the grunt work, but we also make sure they get out of the office and do some of the more fun aspects of our business.

All of them needed to listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Three steps to the door."

The LAT says the BF admitted to his father in Missouri that he had "fallen" for a married woman. The father told the lad more than once that he was heading for trouble. Dad was right.

man oh man, this deputy dude was seriously seriously twisted. From the LAT:
A Los Angeles sheriff's deputy was charged today with torturing and forcibly sexually assaulting his wife and another man after learning that his wife planned to divorce him, authorities said.
Prosecutors released chilling new details about the Sunday night attack, alleging that Deputy Robert A. McClain repeatedly punched and kicked the victims and forced them at knifepoint to undress and ordered them to engage in a sex act. The ordeal, authorities said, spanned nearly nine hours.
At one point, prosecutors said, the deputy ordered his wife to castrate the 23-year-old man. She "fearfully pretended to follow his instructions" and the deputy used the knife to repeatedly slice the young man's face, according to a statement released by the Orange County district attorney's office.
McClain, 34, faces charges of torture, aggravated mayhem and sodomy by force with great bodily injury to a sexual assault victim. If convicted, he faces life in prison, authorities said.
According to prosecutors, the bloody attack occurred about 10 p.m. Sunday when McClain's wife told him she was leaving him for the younger man, whom she met while working at a leasing office in an Irvine apartment complex. After learning this, the deputy had his 31-year-old wife take him to meet the man at his apartment, prosecutors said.
After arriving, the deputy led the victims to a back kitchenette area in the leasing office, where he started to argue with them and physically attack them, authorities said.
"McClain is accused of taking out a knife and forcing both victims to undress," according to the district attorney's statement. McClain also disrobed, authorities said.
"While at knife point, McClain is accused of unsuccessfully ordering [his wife] to orally copulate both him and [the other man]," the statement read. McClain then ordered his wife to castrate the younger man, which she feigned doing, authorities said. The young man did, however, sustain puncture wounds to his groin area, Irvine police said.
After slashing the man's face, prosecutors said, McClain fled the scene, forcing his wife to go with him.
McClain then forcibly sodomized his wife, chopped off her hair with the knife, and ultimately drove her back to their Irvine home, prosecutors allege.
About 5 a.m. Monday, the wife was able to leave the house with her and her husband's four children and drive to a nearby hospital to get treatment, authorities said.
A cleaning crew two hours later discovered the young man in the leasing office and called authorities.

Assuming these charges are true, as a law enforcement officer, I am disgusted by this scums actions.
No amount of convoluted analysis can possibly justify the violence committed against the victims.
The fact that he wore a badge, doesn't make him a cop, he's just a thug with a piece of metal clipped to his shirt. It takes more than a badge to be a police officer or a deputy.
McClain betrayed his oath and violated everything law enforcement officers stand for. Please don't judge us all by this worthless P.O.S.

The LA Times ran the deputy's picture. Big black guy.

what was the "ruse" he used to convince his wife to take him to the BF's apartment at 10 pm on Sunday night. she had to know that meeting wasn't going to have a happy ending.

Jilt Cop's Fury Over Lover Willy
this is the headline from Friday's UK Sun tabloid for the McClain story. includes a photo of a serious knife, the kind you'd use to carve the thanksgiving turkey

In today's Register, McClain's uncle calls in from Philly to claim the deputy was acting in self-defense. Hmm.

To suggest that any black person hired for any job is an affirmative action hire is to believe that all blacks are inferior. If this had been a white guy what would be your comment then? I know the standard line is "this was an isolated incident by a rogue officer", doesn't that about sum it up. Ooh maybe this one its used a lot"Why not blame the victims, you could say that the torture is in doubt and then launch a public campaign against the victims and indicating how they failed to pay taxes, spit on the sidewalk you know the standard campaign of hatred. What is truly sad is that you probably don't feel anything is wrong with these types of attitudes. Enjoy your hatred and oh and way to turn a tragedy into a racial thing.
