The hacker who tried to steal credit card numbers is facing jail time, and the reckless driver killer isn't even cited?

This SHOULD be a serious crime. Just because it was an "accident" doesn't mean jack. Handling a car carelessly should be taken as seriously as handling a gun carelessly.

I've lost track of the number of times I've almost been run over by people backing out of parking spots at speeds equal to Han Solo leaving Tatooine.

Most drivers simply cannot see or choose to ignore anything that isn't a threat and most people would apparently rather kill someone than actually turn their head while backing out..if they see nothing big enough to be a danger to them in their rear-view, they go ahead and gun it.

I've even been cursed at for daring to be in their way....most drivers are best treated as either drunk or homicidally negligent when you are a pedestrian, you live longer. Watch for those back-up lights to flare on and run for it baby!

Was there when it happened... the driver must have reversed full throttle and obviously didn't even check for pedestrians. The victim was first pinned to a parked car all the way across (a small tree was taken out at the same time by the impact). When the lady fell to the ground she was ran over a SECOND time... it was really horrible and how the woman ever obtained her driver license is a mystery (age was not an excuse either; she was not a senior citizen!). Sorry, this is manslaughter time!!

Another example of why not talk on the cell while reversing, see what happens, we need more wits, to come forward to see, what exactly happened.

Wow!!!! Pulling out of a parking space and you kill someone! You should be arrested!!! There is NO EXCUSE. If you can't handle a larger car then get a honda and use some COMMON SENSE for god sakes!!! W~T~F is wrong with people? A wrongful death lawsuit may be in the near future.

Why do people drive like were in TJ? Get a grip!

How the hell fast was she going backing out to kill someone?! Sheesh, I didn't even think it was possible. Aren't you supposed to back out slowly?

"The Honda Pilot was impounded to rule out the possibility of mechanical defects, though none were indicated, Berg said."

Geez, it's no brainer that the only defect here was the driver, hopefully investigators will check the driver phone records to prove that he/she is the defect.

It is sad that this woman's family has to suffer her loss due to a person who should never have been allowed to drive at all. I too have seen women driving SUVs who can hardly see over the steering wheel, much less drive carefully. She still may receive a citation from the police. If the officer did not actually witness the incident they usually make out a report which is reviewed later. I am not sure if it is the police, courts or the DMV. Then a decision is made. I hope this one is to charge her with negligent homicide because that is what it was.

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen people talking on their cel while making Uturns.
Most of them were driving vans or suv's. It is very obvious that when some people turn on the ignition they immediately turn off their brains.

I was hit about 3 years ago by a woman who was backing out of a parking lot in a truck, she hit me and did not even know it, i pounded on her truck, the B***h yelled at me. I said i was calling the police. I filed as a hit and run, i could not even walk. Moral of this story report to lakewood sheriffs, WRONG!, treated badly, her boyfriends insurance company, Allstate, reported me to fraud, i had an attorney, i got $300, and a really bad Ciatic nerve. People please watch out for other people.

Havent we all messed up in life. i am sure the driver is feeling horrible at this time and this is something they will have on their conscience forever. We all have lots on our minds during these tough economic times unfortunately this woman happened to be behind the wheel of a vehicle. Condolences for both the victim and the driver.

what? tough economic times is an excuse for killing someone? you're the kind of person that makes excuses for molesters, murders, and rapists...it's their upbringing, it's their environments, it's drugs, and it's the tough economic times...please. it's the individual that did the act and only that person is responsible. this person kill someone so let her pay the price. i'm sure she won't go to jail...we leave jail to people who kick their dogs.
