Residents want Long Beach to allow livestock

If urban farm advocates have their way, several meetings last week could lead to a "coop d'etat" in the city's ordinances regarding chickens and other livestock.

The whole filthy foreign peasant infested Slum vibe that seems to be the goal of LB City Hall would be enhanced by farm animals in the City. The sounds and smells would be awesome.

Why not? My narrow minded prudish friends often chide me for supporting the right of our fellow Long Beachers to house our friends - the farm animals - in residential neighborhoods. I always remind them that the city spends hard earned taxpayer money so the politicians and their high paid staff can ensure the RIGHT of voting dog owners to have their canine companions accompany them into Council controlled NO DECENT TOBACCO SMOKERS ALLOWED! dining areas of local restaurants.

As Long Beach becomes more and more diverse, it is likely there will be an influx of decent voodoo practitioners who seek only the right to celebrate their faith just like any other Long Beacher.

Why chance the need to spend even more hard earned taxpayer money going into Government court in what would only amount to a failed effort to deny our voodoo practicing fellow citizens the equal right to celebrate their religious beliefs?

More shittious reporting by Greg Mellon, as he doesn't clearly identify the groups of "urban farmers" that are trying to turn people's backyards into barnyards.
I would suspect, since this is a sanctuary city, that there may be more than a few hispanics involved with encouraging Long Beach to be a little more like Tijuana.
I particularly liked the "they're my little garbage disposals" line. I'm sure animal advocates for the quality of life of chickens might disagree, which opens another "can of worms" which is where do we find the money to administrate animal abuse charges, as well as problems with the disposal of chicken and goat waste that can pile up if some urban animal enthusiast is also "nuts."
If I get violently ill, and the illness is tied to bacteria commonly found in goat waste, and my neighbor has goats that are less than cared for, or their waste improperly administrated, whom do I get to sue? The goat owner? The city, for not keeping up with the goat owner? Both?
We really have the money in city coffers to set aside to administrate amateur goat and chicken enthusiasts and their animals? If a group of goats are found to be abused, are we going to keep them at the dog pound, or just shoot them in the head onsite?
Chickens need proper care also. What do we do with coops full of abused chickens?
We have the MONEY for all this nonsense? Just to appease a few immigrants, some perhaps illegal, who aren't making ends meet in Long Beach?

Oh. Ouch. Looks like it was a fiasco there. Would Long Beach be different from New York City? If not, do we have the police force in place and trained to deal with excited calls about bee swarms, and is the fire department prepared to pick up assorted dog, child, and elderly carcasses that result from some of the Africanized bee swarms?

I vote for letting people keep bees. After 10 or 20 attacks, it might be a way that will encourage illegals to leave the city, and if some of the illegals complain, we can just say, "we can't help it if the bees don't like someone. If you don't like it, move to Walnut."
