what an animal.....hits children, drags them, and doesn't stop....what an animal....

more than likely, he or she or it is on "parole", no insurance, no license,

hopefully some wrote down the license plate number or took a picture with a camera.

That is unbelievable... there's absolutely no chance that the driver didn't know he was dragging someone or something... unless of course, he was in an alcoholic stupor.

So sad, On my block "Loma Ave" I heard and saw an SUV raking up the streets with sparks flying, but had no clue a child was being dragged around 8:30 something pm.. All I hear now is helicopters hovering. Such a sad tragedy.:[
Let's all pray for the family who just lost their child, a one yr old baby girl, due to a hit n run by a careless idiot.

I can't believe there's people like this on the streets; It is so unfortunate and a terrible tragedy. Of all the years living in Long Beach, never had I heard of something like this. I can only imagine the father's feeling right now, I will pray for him and his family and hope for the critical baby's wellness, but this will forever be unforgettable and leave a deep mark in the family's lifes. I can only wish and hope they someday overcome all this and hope the person responsible pays to the maximum of the law!

Just watched the Channel 7 News and the driver was arrested. I do hope and pray the toddler survives, what a tragedy for the family, please don't let them lose both children! Justice for this family, thankfully the driver is in custody.

I was at a restaurant on the corner and didn't hear anything but sirens. This is a tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to the family as I can not imagine the pain felt from this tragic event. Children are the most innocent form of life in this world. We must do everything in are power to protect them from harm. Please as a concerned citizen let's forget about are own problems and pray for a family that is going through such a tragic event that is so unimaginable. We must join together that is what we are about.

What the hell are 2 children doing out at that hour and at a busy intersection? I live around that area and I hate to say it, but it was bound to happen sooner or later -the way people walk out in the streets against the lights. Its worse about a block up where people(often pushing strollers) walk right in front of traffic to cross from Gooodwill store to Rite Aid. Hopefully the other toddler lives and folks are more careful in that area from now on.

"He pulled up and said, I think I hit a child." What a piece of crap for a man. He knew and hoped to get away with it. Hope this Ass fries. No excuse for this. Hope the family sets up a fund or memorial so we can contribute to the family of the child. Just wish we made better choices because this is tragic and very sad. Again, fry his ass, he has no soul if you ask me. whoa.

Firstly, no one has ALL the facts yet. The guy didn't drive up onto the sidewalk and decide to drag a stroller. Where was the stroller. Were they in a crosswalk? Was it still light outside? Could the guy have possibly not known he his a stroller if were dark? He DID stop after all when he realized walk may have happened. Let's wait for the report to be finalized. This could be a tragedy all-around. Blood tests are not in for the driver or all the facts. Very sad for the you innocent though.

Four years max?! I'm gonna have to follow up on that.. but at least we can say that the driver is in custody and did not get away with this. I've heard of many a funeral of hit and run victims in Long Beach where the drivers were never found.

It was a block away from my place.
I heard the sirens and the helicopters but could never imagine such a tragedy had happened.

People think at crosswalks that since they have the right of way that they can cross the street and everyone sees them. Fools. I walk as if every car out there has a drunk or a blind Idot behind the wheel

May God Blees the children

You tell us, is there light out at 8:30pm ? He only stopped when he pulled in his driveway . are you reading the same story that we are? If you thought you had something under your truck wouldn't you think to stop and see what it is .instead of travaling almost 2 miles with out stopping (mind you he only stopped because he was home)

A mother loses a child and this person wants to know their immigration status. Will you only feel sympathy for a U.S. citizen?

We are all God's children here. I'm praying for the family of the children. Is there an address where we can send money to help the family?

Cars have come to rule society. Police, certainly not the LASO in Lakewood, will not enforce trafic laws. It is not uncomon to see cars driving very fast on residential streets. I have called the Lakewood substation to complain about the trafic on Obispo befor. The LASO is less than helpful in this area, like it is beneth their dignity.

you have a point there, but that doesn't still allow drivers who drive at night to drive at a high rate of speed or roll through stop signs....this idiot didn't realize he hit someone? sorry excuse....pay the price fool!
