Long Beach voters have made it clear, on several trips to the polls, that they want to lower existing taxes -- not take on any new ones.

I agree with the editor. The Increase in Long Beach crime is bringing calls from the tiny minority of Long Beachers who pay taxes to hire more cops. The radical element in control of the city keeps spending more and more hard earned taxpayer money on frivolous things, as well as supporting the voting majority of dangerous tax eaters and taxpayer supported Thug people.
As long ago as 1992, the Sheriff Department proposed policing the city at an estimated taxpayer savings of $29,000,000 per annum. Let us say the proposal was adopted and the savings was put into the bank and earned no interest. The taxpayers would have banked more than one half $Billions Dollars, more than enough to cover the relatively puny deficit the city's taxpayers are facing, even if that savings was expressed in 1992 $Dollars. Isn't it about time the city begin thinking about saving taxpayer money? Is it too late to replace our distant politically correct Council controlled police department with the County Sheriff Department? Saving taxpayer money would just be icing on the cake.
