They need another day off. A bunch of pathetic people who come up with any reason possible to cancel school. Maybe if they forced kids to go to school, they would graduate. Instead, school is cancelled for no good reason, and these kids grow up just like their parents...dropouts! Demand them to achieve and they will... give them excuses not to go and they'll quit (drop out) as soon as they can.

Yep, no free babysitting tomorrow. You will have to take the kids with you to spend the ole government check.

It's very disturbing that so many kids in Laurel Co are court ordered to go to school. Why don't you people make your kids go to school? Is it so hard to be a parent?

Ever think if the school system was fair and treated everone equal that kids would want to be in school. It's not all the parents fault. Its alot about the money here. This school system is no where near what it use to be.....Very sad?

probably because the same old story every couple of months. our pathetic government! the sequester is slowing everything down. the irs tax refund hotline and website is shut down because of it. probaby wont be any meals to feed the majority of students that rely on the free hot lunch program. Laurel county does not ever close school for weather in advance. they probably will not get their money per head in school while the ridiculous sequester is in progress. oh they use illness as an excuse, but why is that playing a role now when the flu season is slowing down? they are not going to tell the truth. this country is so pathetic and an embarrassment

Apparently don't pay attention to the news, or your child for that matter. School is closed because of the amount of kids, and staff, that are out sick. If the parents would stop sending their sick kids to school everyone else wouldn't get sick. Whitley County has been out since Wednesday.

If people stopped getting vaccinations, all this sickness would stop spreading like wild fire. Vaccines shed the disease and sickness to everyone else. STOP VACCINATING!

They are usually already sick and contagious up to several days before symptoms first appear.

Federal money available for what used to be known as "Calamity Days." Bet a dollar to a donut by taking this day, puts them in contention for some dollar. Any bets?
