i'm pretty sure if corbin was in the position, where they were close to mercy ruling us, they would take the opportunity.

everyone just needs to calm down, because im pretty sure mercy ruling a team, really isn't that big of a deal.

let me clear this up for everyone...
1. my name starts with a g not a j
2. all of our bench played
3. We have very good sportsmanship, better than most teams actually
4. 95% of you probably didn't even go to the game so you have no idea what happend
5. oh and our coach is pretty freakin good since south laurel girls soccer had never made it to state and the year she started coaching we did.
6. and were going for a 3-peat baby=)
7. to stephanie fawbush and kara+karinne..reason we mercy ruled them is because i wanted to go to J.Miltons with Lonnie Marcum=)

a coach should not stand on sidelines and yell lets mercy rule a team by a certain time, that is just unsportsman like, i dont care if it was corbin or north, if she has a baby maybe she needs to stay home and care for it, folks you don't run up the score like that, south laurel school board members need to be notified of her actions, they would be very upset, if i was corbin i would contact the khsaa on her unsportsman like conduct, dont she realize this is high school and not a pro team, i know i am sure upset over hearing of this, very poor taste if you ask me
wow
mercy ruling a team isn't a crime.
you show teams respect by not taking it easy on them.
why should we have gone easy on them?
thats not respecting them.
i dont really think that it was bad for us mercy ruling them.

and plus do you guys even know what your talking about?
how many of you actually play soccer?

Don't any of you know that by beating a team that bad, you are getting respect. Mia Hamm, and Ang Kelly (The coach of the UT women's soccer team) said, that when you play a team you should beat them so bad that they don't ever want to see you or play you again.
Here's the quote:“You can't just beat a team, you have to leave a lasting impression in their minds so they never want to see you again”–Mia Hamm
So you people just need to shut up, and get real. Don't talk unless you know what your talking about. Don't any of you have anything better to do besides putting your nose in someone elses business where it doesn't belong. Your not the coach, it's not your decision what happens, so your wasting your breath. And so what if you don't like souths head coach, what's it to you anyhow??

so i'm pretty sure that people need to find something better to do than get on here and trash talk people, but since i heard about this, and sadly had to stoop this low and speak what i think, here we go.
First of all, apparently you don't play a sport or aren't too smart. when you are in district play, or any tournament play for that matter, you show no mercy, period. if it comes down to it and there is some sort of tie, it goes to goal differential, therefore, we want to score as many as possible. yes, i do feel bad for corbin, i did, but a sport is not about who you feel sorry for and who can't stop you. no, we didn't mercy rule them because we lost our last 3 games, it's simply because when you play a sport, that what you do. you show your ability as an athlete, and during tournament time is when you get noticed by college scouts and get named on the all-district and all-region team. when you are playing a team, you respect them by showing no mercy and playing to your full potential. ya know, if a team that was better than us held back and didn't play as hard as they could because they "felt bad for us" would embarrass me. i wouldn't want to have to say "they only beat us by a few goals, but they didn't play as hard as they could because they felt bad for us." that's what would be embarrassing. no, maybe we don't have as good of a record as some of the other sports, or as the boys soccer team does, but try having our schedule and playing numerous teams in the top 25, and then you'll stop running your mouth. what our coach does, which is apparently a good job, is none of your business in the first place and is carrying our team to victory. and for the record, we have 4-5 people who are on the bench, and you can ask any of them, all of them got to play. 1 of them even scored a goal. so everyone who is on here running your mouth about this, needs to 1. get their facts straight, and 2. worry about their own business and worry about themselves, because apparently what we're doing is working :].
i've said my piece and i am done.

and a hint of advice, you should probably stop running your mouth, because there's not too many people who are gonna back you up.

i don't think corbin is a threat to our soccer team, i totally disagree with the above post, even the refs where taking about how rude it was of the coach to stand on sidelines and yell for a mercy rule, they should have given her a yellow card, very unsportsmanlike for a coach, she needs to be reported to khsaa and school should be notified, the girls should be upset with coaches action, it falls back on her, lets see, she has a young child, remember what goes around comes around, it may take until her child gets older but it will come back on her for being so unsportsmanlike, then she will see what it feels like, or better yet just ask our boys team how it felt to get beat last night by oneida baptist 3 to 0, and theirs wasn't mercy rule,
IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT MERCY RULE ITS STILL WRONG TO RUN SCORE UP ON A TEAM IN ANY SPORT!

If you actually played soccer, or coached it, instead of watching from the sidelines, it might actually mean something to us.

but im seriously doubting that you do, so im pretty sure what your saying means nothing.

I'd like to see you go coach a team, and see how many games you would win with an attitude that every time your oppenent is worse than you, that you should just score a couple of goals, and then just make the other team run around the field? I doubt you would win even 1 game.

and yeah, the guys team felt bad about their loss, but i doubt their gonna get on topix, and post stuff saying that it was wrong for Oneida to beat them? I mean, it doesn't matter that we mercy ruled them, we were gonna beat them anyway.

I mean, come on, if your gonna post crap about us, at least make sure you know what your talking about.

Also, no matter what you people say on here, were gonna keep playing how we do, so, thanks for your opinions of us, but no thanks.

Seriously. Mercy ruling a team isn't really unsportsmanlike. It shows that you took them serious. and that's what most teams probably want.
And what does the boys soccer team losing have anything to do with us mercy ruling corbin.
Oh wow! Karma really got those boys good.

Mercy Rule is where you beat a team 10-0, and it ends the game early.

I have a daughter that plays for Corbin and I have no problem with South Laurel's sportsmanship in beating the Redhounds 10-0. If we do not want to get beat that badly, then Corbin must work harder in the offseason and improve. South played clean soccer and I did not see any taunting or much trash-talking from the players, like what I witnessed from Middlesboro in the game we played against them.

When the coach stands on sideline and yells a time for her team to have mercy ruled a team, thats poor sportsmanship. It is all over town. She should have been coaching. When a player who is a soph. stays in all game and has 6 goals like I read in paper today, thats stupid. If my kid was on bench I would be very upset.

THATS THE POINT!

noone freaking sat on the bench!

do you see any mad south parents on here talking how their kid sat bench?

cant say i do.

if the girl who scored 6 goals actually played the whole game, you might have something to talk about, but, she played maybe, 30 minutes of the whole game, and still scored six goals.

so please, before you start talking crap, get your facts straight.

really, all it is, is that if one team scores 10 goals, even if its like 10 minutes into the game, the game ends.
