Update ..... the count of dead is now 25 and 24 wounded with some critical.

"The massacre involved two gunmen and prompted the town of Newtown to lock down all its schools and draw SWAT teams to the school, authorities said today."

"One shooter is dead and a manhunt is on for a second gunman. Police are searching cars. One shooter was described as a 24-year-old armed man with four weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest, sources told ABC News."

"It's unclear how many people have been shot, but 25 people, mostly children, are dead, multiple federal and state sources tell ABC News. That number could rise, officials said."

My interest doesn't lie with China. It does with what is and has occurred time after time here in my own nation.

None of those children died in China! Now if the man were able to get his hands a hold of a gun, then it would have been a different story!

Instead of arguing with me and commonsense people, the pro-gun people should be anxious to join efforts in finding ways to take a second look at issues which could result in less shootings at public locations.

When the nation was faced with unacceptable deaths by car accidents, we developed new laws on construction and operation of automobiles.

That's the action we want from you and the NRA. We don't want to take guns from normal gun owners, I'm one ..... I own two guns, but let's be real ..... until you are prepared to accept the task of helping find the solution, you're the problem.

But the NRA and gun companies are even fighting efforts to improve criminal background checks and data-sharing among states and agencies.

Btw, making it legal to carry a gun into an elementary school would only have made it lawful for this lunatic to carry his guns into that building.

You libtard will never get it. How many of these nut try going into a police station and try to kill someone.None because they know they have guns in their. If teacher or other staff are allowed to have their guns in the school it likely not as many children would have died.Just like a libtard to believe a lunatic would obey the law and Not carry a gun into a gun free zone.People that thing like you are the problem.

The now-deceased, 20-something-year-old shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown wore black BDUs (battle dress uniform), which are standard combat uniforms like those sold on Camping Survival, and a military-style vest. The shooter, who was reportedly identified as Ryan Lanza,(this turn out not to be true but his younger brother) also had a mask covering his face.

On Megyn Kelly’s America Live program on Fox News, a mother of a student called in pointing out that visitors to the school need to be buzzed in through the doors by the front desk. The mother, whose daughter was not hurt, said she doesn’t believe the secretary would let in a person wearing a mask or questionable clothing.
******
I turn out that the shooter mother works their as a teacher. So it appears a shool staff member let him into the school.South laurel middle school has the same system.

Name any mass killings where armed citizens stopped it. You can't.

This guy didn't have a criminal background. They seldom do.

I don't get it. More kids die everyday of car accidents and cancer, yet the nation doesn't go into hysterics and start a cryfest.

Was it bad? Sure. But every bad action doesn't necessitate legislation.

This guy had two pistols. So when people start bringing up assault rifles(which they already are) you know right then they don't give two craps about this event, they are simply using it to push an agenda.

Because they're not plastered all over the news.

Not to mention the fact that mass killings almost always take place in "gun free" zones.

HSBC just got away with huge financial crimes. Feds don't care.
NK just launched a missile.
USA just moved troops and missiles into Turkey.

IGNORE ALL THAT. Some school got shot up.

One school, out of the 100K schools in America.

As the details about the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy continue to emerge, a question that is among the top is how the 20-something-year-old gunman carried between two to four guns into the school where he shot 26 people, 18 of whom were children.

A local Connecticut news station has published a letter sent from the school to parents earlier this year, detailing its security policy.

“Our district will be implementing a security system in all elementary schools as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure student safety,” the letter began, as included on WTNH’s website.

The procedure for the 2012-2013 school year included the exterior doors of the school lock each day at 9:30 a.m. and every visitor to the school rings a doorbell at the front where office staff would use a camera to verify the visitor’s identity and allow entry. Visitors sign in upon entrance and “if our staff does not recognize you,” photo ID is required.

Here’s more from the letter that was sent from Principal Dawn Hochsprung, who was allegedly killed in the shooting as well:

Our office staff is handling multiple tasks. Though they will work diligently to help you into the building as quickly as possible, there may be a short delay until someone can view you on the handset and allow you to come in electronically. There are times during the day when office personnel are on the telephone, addressing student concerns, or in the copy room; there are other times when only one person is in the front office. Please help our staff by identifying yourself and provide your child’s name. Keep in mind we will be following our district guidelines which may need revision once we test the system.

The Conservative Republican argument that to reduce gun crimes and mass shootings is to allow criminals and unstable people to easily obtain them is as stupid as anything can possibly be. Our laws and procedures concerning guns need modifications.

When things like today occur (once again) it means something needs to be done. But the Conservatives and tea party fighting every single attempt at doing anything is ridiculous.
