they always have layaways this time of year, but even more this year. wouldn't be surprised if they close. laurel grocery also had layoffs and is rumored to be closing. this town is in trouble with so many out of work, and not much of any jobs available. any jobs that are available are very low paying jobs not able to live on without some type of assistance to pick up the balance of necessary bills. with so many out of work, there may be a domino effect to come from other employers because of decrease in business. The one place making a profit for sure now is Jackson Electric from their ridiculous cost of heating. And they know that this is a necessity.

My aunt talked with someone that works at Laurel Cookie Factory and they said they were laying off 150 people. It's really sad. Times are gonna get harder. I don't know what people are gonna do, with families to raise.

I hope it gets better for everyone involved. I also wish there was something that could be done about jackson electric. If there a petition online that anyone could sign. Does anyone have a link to protest to congress about these people. Maybe jackson electric will go bankrupt if everyone could get a grant for a generator or something.

something needs to be done. people already cant afford to pay their high cost of heating. with layoffs and little chance of decent paying jobs, people are going to have to choose between food and heat. there will be cut offs and people will end up sick from no heat. energy assistance should be considered for je customers before ku customers. ku customers can afford to keep their heat at a comfortable temp.
