Sure, a 6,000 square foot resturant will hire 3 times the number of people that it takes to operate a 30,000 square foot department store. Get real.I also guess you think Cheddars will draw more people to London than Marshalls will to Corbin. Corbin sure gets nice department stores: Belks, JC Penny's and now Marshalls. London has what???
We got Wallmart and plenty of Dollars Stores. Don't need nothing else.

Read the story in the Sentinel Echo about the race track Keeneland is going to build south of Corbin. It will be built in Whitley County so Corbin can annex it and allow alcohol sales. The story also says it will be an entertainment complex. Think it will provide more jobs than Cheddars and draw more people. You naysayers are going to see how Corbin booms because of its vote. No alcohol, no race track. No traffic, no Marshalls. And the amount of alcohol being sold in Corbin is increasing traffic. Moreover, Corbin collected almost as much in alcohol taxes for December ($77,000.00) as London collects all year from its bars. Its just the beginning. An even bigger announcement will be forth coming on Corbin development.

and what will they do to run out of things like that with not enough hotels to accommodate them? stop off in london and commute?
that means london will get most of their eats. lmao. more eats are more taxes.
but just dont worry your pretty lil head.
49er is closer to london than corbin. everybody knows high paid truckers spend more money there. and the good truckers dont drink and drive. good meals at reasonable prices. prettier women.

Sad, when all London can boast about is a greasy truck stop, known far and wide. Bet those coming to Keeneland/Corbin will flock to the 49er to eat. And if Corbin hotels and restaurants can't handle the business, they will build more.

LEXINGTON, Ky.(AP)- Lexington thoroughbred racetrack Keeneland has partnered with Nevada-based Full House Resorts in an effort to purchase land and build a Quarter Horse racetrack in the Corbin area.
Keeneland president and CEO Bill Thomason told the Lexington Herald-Leader in an exclusive interview that officials "think the community will embrace it and enjoy it" and that such a track would benefit the area economically.
The plan would include purchasing the Thunder Ridge harness track in Prestonsburg and reinventing it.
Keeneland leaders said they envision a "Keeneland-esque" facility that would offer simulcasting and instant racing in addition to a boutique summertime Quarter Horse meet of about a dozen race dates.
The proposal would need regulatory approval before it could proceed.

This is huge for Corbin. There was just too much crime and too many meth labs for Keeneland to have seriously considered London.

A racing date is not limited to one day. A date or meet may last several days or weeks. Keenelands being conducting races for nearly a century. They would not build a tract for 12 days a year. This is really great for the area. It will create jobs and tourist traffic.

Guess you should have voted yes!
All London has is the MOB, the mob protectors, and the peons who kiss the mob's [email protected]@.
oh, heard you might be getting another flea market,(yawn).
Glad you got it and your 3% restaurant tax. Something has to cover the million dollar per year loss on that Arena. But it looks good on top that hill.
