Does save a lot have good prices? Are they cheaper than Wal Mart? I have never shopped there, I do remember my mom shopping at save a lot when I was a kid but she wouldn't buy meat there. Is their meat reasonably priced and fresh? Is there anything that I shouldn't buy there?

Sav A Lot used to have good prices and good quality stuff. But over the year, they stated slipping in low quality products and increase the prices on them. Their meat department is like most. Depends on what you buy.

If you shop Sav A Lot, shop the ones in Corbin. They participate in the national weekly sales which feature better deals. The London store does not participate in the company's weekly sales. They advertise a few items for their store only, but these are generally just their everyday prices.

And be prepared to stand in the checkout lane a long time.

I shop Aldi in Corbin. I can shop cheaper than than any place else, and I like all their brands of food. They take cash, debit or ebt only. Oh, and be sure and take a quarter for the cart; I keep one in my console. And take bags or buy theirs, which are very cheap. I keep a box of bags in my car to use when I shop there. I wheel my cart out to the car, bag the stuff, return my cart and get my quarter back. Hope this helps.

i like to stop by save alot when im in town and i git a big box of Vista laundry soap, the powder is hard to find now day's, then i strap the box to my hog and ride...

when i take my humvee in town i like to spend about $35 on aldi's stuff, right now im workin' on a tub of that chedder cheese cracker spread, a big box of popcicles, and thier instant coffee is still good since they switched from glass to a plastic jar...haven't started on my jar of pickles yet...nice people also

i avoid china-mart and custom cut my own meat, so that ruined me from any of that store-bought stuff....Baby!

I don't buy their beef; I still have some grain-fed beef in my freezer that I got from someone who slaughters. It's cheaper and healthier to buy, raise and slaughter, or go in halves or quarters with someone.
I buy skim milk at Aldi's for $2.89 a gal. And I don't buy boneless, skinless chicken; it's too expensive. Aldi has the frozen Kirkwood, 100% all natural chicken for 89 cents a lb. I cut it up and skin it myself. They have frozen bags of stir fry, just add your own meat/chicken/shrimp or whatever. I throw away the bag of sauce though and just use soy sauce.
Aldi's whole wheat bread is $1.29. I buy 3 or 4 loaves at a time and freeze it.
I save a lot more by shopping Aldi and scratch cooking than any other store. If you try it I don't think you'll grocery shop any place else.

Aldi has a web site, you will find all the specials for the current week along with next week. I shop only there! And I have never found a product I didn't like. If you do happen to get something you don't like, you can return it and they will double your money back. Great store, great prices.

Aldi's milk was $2.89 yesterday. Save a Lot's milk was $3.39 last week--I didn't check this week.
I shop Save a Lot for meat because theirs is fresh cut and tastes better. When you cook their chicken the bone doesn't turn black like Walmart's does because it has been frozen. The only chicken I buy at Aldi's is frozen wings or breast. Aldi's does adverttise they have fresh meat on Wensdays but I always shop weedends and don't know about that.
I also prefer Save a Lot's fresh 70/30 ground beef over Aldi's frozen 80/20.
