I guess it makes no difference who gets my old bony body because I bought a face down policy a few years ago, that means the people I don't like can kiss my rear good-bye.

Yeah nothing like seeing you financial business posted on topix before you ever go public with it {if its true}
London Funeral Home is the one going under. Bowling is a solid well run operation. House is also. Where do you people get all this information? Make it up? London Funeral Home is up for sale. They just have not gone public with it.

I doubt House Rawlings, London Funeral Home or Bowling are in trouble. They all have plenty of business. I don't doubt House Rawlings has lost some business but they still seem to be doing well.

Bowling has the majority of the business and isn't he also your Coroner? If you just look at Bowling's website vs the aforementioned 2, there's no real comparison. Bowling's apparently got it locked up.

Actually, I would not be surprised if London Funeral is not making the most money of the three. Moreover, its owners are extremely solid, so I don't see them selling, They are getting a lot of business, some of it surprises me. I bet if you add the services for this year, Bowling and London are leading House Rawlings by a large margin.

If left to me they would all down size. My father, mother and father in laws funerals all cost over $9,000.00 each. So I made arrangements to be cremated at a cost of $1,200.00. Told my family if they wanted a memorial service (I could care less) have it at the church and they would avoid further cost. It silly to spend a fortune on a big funeral service. I am going to Europe this fall on what my decision saved. Besides who wants to be stuffed in a tin box and buried for the worms to eat. Money can be spent for better things than a box and big show.

Exactly what I am doing too.Why spend all that money on something the person never knows about anyway.Thats all for show for the ones left behind.I would much rather spend $9,000 on the person while they are alive for a nice vacation or something they would really enjoy and then leave this world the cheapest way possible.Such a big waste of money.

You can check each of the funeral homes websites and they have information about it.

There is a crematorium in Somerset at the Somerset Undertaking Co. and Crematorium. They service our area and I made arrangements with them. Its cheaper and my wife, who is very religious, talked to her minister and he related cremation is consistent with Christian teachings. She plans to do the same thing. Rather spend it on college for the grandkids or vacations than give it some funeral home.

If you will check the web site for London Funeral Home and Bowling Funeral home for July 2012, you will find London has had more services than Bowling and for the year they are about even. Neither has a lock. House Rawling's web site is screwed up but they always seem to have fewer than the other two.Its amazing how quickly London Funeral home has grown.

I'm sure you're right. I guess maybe it's the comparison of their websites. I never really counted them. That town needs at least 2 of them. Personally in the past, our family has dealt with Bowling (because we knew Walker years back) and have always been pleased.

I think the economy has hurt their businesses just like all the other businesses today. Many people are now having the visitation and funeral on the same day. It used to be 2 days for visitation and a 3rd day for funeral. These more economical options have to be cutting into the profit margin. I think it's more sensible and easier on the families.

What happens to those who have insurance policies that are to be paid directly to House-Rawlings. We have a policy that was prepaid back in 1989. I guess I'll have to stop in and check it out. Be my luck they can take that and run with it.

We have dealt with London Funeral Home and House/Rawlings both. One family member was at London Funeral Home. The cost was over 13,000. Just the casket was over $9,000. A few months later another family member passed and was at House/Rawlings. The complete deal was less than 5,000, including the steel vault. They called it the economy package. The 5,000 package was every bit at nice as the 13,000 package with the exception of the casket. The 5,000 package was very nice as well. What does it matter, this old body is going to return to the dust if your have a 1,000 funeral or a 100,000 funeral. Like someone posted earlier, it's all for show for the ones that are left behind. Treat your loved ones with the love and respect they deserve when they are living and you want have to suffer any guilt when they are laying in their casket, regardless of the price.

Why is it a law we can't bury our dead without all that..like they did many years ago?....I agree with you, what does it matter anyway. There's no more "life" for the dead body...Of course you do have those who believe those dead bodies are going to come out of the ground and live again. How ridiculous!!! And why does it cost so much if you are creamated? How much does fire cost anyway?!!
