All I know is that pastor Blalock "passed out" while in the pulpit at a recent service. Have also some members of the church have asked him to resign. Not sure this the case.

I heard he broke down in front of the congregation recently during what was to be his last sermon to them.

the "Deacons" decided that he needed to go that his sermons were too dry. they fired him. it was to be his last sermon. can you imagine how he felt being betrayed and treated that way by his "deacons" the supposed support system for the church. He buckled under the stress; it was too much for him.
like has happened in many churches before you have a few who try to run the show and be the big bosses of everything. the congregation was never consulted. only the decision of a few; what gives them the right.
church people are some of the cruelest, meanest, people ever as they allow Satan to use them as his tool to create havoc and unrest. God forgive them.

Dear Member, what are you a member of - the Liars Club; what garbage you just spread is nothing but a complete lie and may God forgive you for spreading this; The deacons in fact DID NOT fire the pastor, they simply offered him a very nice retirement package in which he accepted with open arms until his wife got a hold of him and made him change his mind. What happened was he got up in front of his congregation and had a nervous breakdown!!! He could have went out on top of this church but he/his wife chose not to. The poor man is very sick, showing early signs of dementia and the deacons were trying to do everything possible for the man. His sermons amount to nothing because they don't make sense with all the rambling he does. The church needs prayer, not a bunch of lies spreading around. It's own members are turning against each other because so much dishonesty going on!!

So by "offereing him a retirement package" they basically told him he should leave. They might as well have told him he was fired. He's given several years of service to that church, they should be a little more considerate. That church is about nothing but money and looking good.

The deacons did make a move to remove Pastor Blaylock as pastor of CBC. Whether it was "for his own good" or because of the fact that the church is no longer bringing in enough money, only they know for sure.

The truth is, CBC has been losing members and income for some time. I don't want to villify anyone. I only pray that what the deacons did was for the right reasons.

It is an unfortunate situation. Pastor B. is a good man and I wish him the best.

I think it is really in poor taste for this to be on Topix--people shouldn't discuss this. I justwishI hadn't read it, but I did. Perhaps the church has been losing member and money--is a church a "money making machine"? Unfortunately it appears so, and I believe it is wrong no matter what church it is. Churches now have to an eloquent speaker not a preacher that hits at the heart. They need speakers who make the membership feel good about themselves-not examine their lives to see if they are living right, and above all churches now recruit fund raisers as their ministers. What has happened to old time religion, preachers who preached the Word of God, got on their knees and prayed with their congregation and did not mind associating with sinners and letting them know they care? I feel that Pastor Blaylock wanted to be that preacher. Sometimes your church members "outgrow" the real needs.

Unfortunate states CBC has been losing members and INCOME for some time. I was unaware that any church was in the Money Making Market and not in the business of preaching the gospel for the business of saving souls.

Does Ernie and Sheila Tackett still go there?

Yes Sheila is still there. How do we know that the deacons removed the pastor? The word among members is that the pastor himself gets to decide.
