Okay, peaches are in season right now and I just had to get me some last Friday. So I head on over to Peach Corner in Corbin. I walk around admiring the beautiful new building and fixtures. I realy wanted to buy a bushel to can, so I ask the price $40.00 I was told. Oh my gosh !!! I could buy a whole lot of already canned peaches for $40.00. So I wander over to the small baskets of peaches for my peach fix. There was a sign on top of one of the baskets that said $6.00 so I pick out a basket, go to the counter to pay and the young girl behind the counter was making a sign. She was doing a great job at making her letters and numbers, she would stand back and look at it making sure it was written nice and pretty. The problem was I was standing there with money and peaches in hand waiting on her to acknowledge me and take my money so I could go home with my peaches. She never said hello how are you or did you find everything you needed and kiss my axx.. nothing but "That will be $9.00" What!!! the sign...I turn around and look and there was a small sign hanging on the bottom of the table that said $9.00. I paid her the $9.00 and she went back to whatever it is she does there, which I am sure could not be customer service. I got 14 peaches for $9.00 and a good lesson. Not to shop there again. I went to Krogers and got my peaches for canning, which by the way were far better quality than what I bought at Peach Corner. I am such a fool to spend the money on gas driving to Corbin.

Hey,
How about giving the kid a break! Customer service at most places usually includes more than just taking care of the customers. I'm sure the little lady was instructed to keep herself busy with many other little jobs in between customers and could have been told not to waste time chit-chatting with people.
Also the workers should not be blamed for the high prices. At least the young person was working. She could have been one of those people that depend on others to keep them up.

Sorry, I agree, poor customer service, she should have taken your money, or at least asked you what you thought of her sign, thereby acknowledging that she seen you.

As for the price, that does seem high. Were they any good? Maybe they were organic? They are always uglier, but usually better tasting.
I wouldn't bother to can any peaches either, 40 bucks would buy an awful lot of canned peaches,(but would they have a cinnamon stick in them? i ALWAYS PUT A STICK IN MINE, YUM...

No they had holes in the top of them. When I put them in the boiling water and then the ice water to peel, I had to pour the water out of them. I can't imagine what could have crawled into them.

Cinnamon, oh yes that does sound so good. I'll try that. Thanks.

First of all I was not blaming the worker for the high price. Just the poor service. You do not ignore a customer who is waiting to give you their money, to make a sign to sell you something when they are not interested in collecting the money that keeps them in business.

Maybe she just didnt see you.
Did you say "excuse me"?
Sounds like she was preoccupied with the sign and just didnt notice. It could happen to anyone.

If you didnt like the price, you should not have went ahead and made the purchase. Just have said something like you didnt know they were that high and put them back, no big deal. I've done that before.

Oh boy I got one for you. I was sent by my father several years back to get a watermelon from there. I purchased the watermelon for seems like 6 dollars and took it straight to my dad.

It took approx 15 minutes between there and home. When he cut it it looked like a pumpkin it was so ripe. He said to take it back and get another kind they had there which costed $1 more.

Now, mind you there could not have been more than 30 minutes time lapse between buying and returning the watermelon.

I walk in with both halves of the watermelon and asked the lady seems like her name was brenda, if i could return it due to it being over ripe and get another one that cost $1 more.

She said to me "we do not give refunds on watermelons". She was the one who sold me the first one, and she knew I had just bought the damn thing not 30 minutes earlier. I was furious, at this point. I told her if she did not give my dad's $6 dollars back me and her would have problems. She insisted that they did not give refunds. I said to her show me one place in here that states you do not refund or exchange bad produce. She couldn't. She then wanted me to take a $6 dollar gift certificate that I could not use immediately. I was so pissed at this point.

But the story gets even better. After I was pissed to my limit I looked her dead in the eye and said to her calmy. If you do not give my dad's money back you and me are getting ready to have major problems. She then says to me, well I need you I.D. to do a refund, I then went ballistic, I slammed her pumpkin watermelon on the floor. After she seen I was really furious she started giving me the 6 dollars back. She still insisted i write my name and address down as I refused to show her my I.D.

I wrote my name as Mary Mother F'ing Poppins and Kalamazoo MI as my address. I wonder how many other Women that bulldog has done like this. She just got more than she bargained for with me. I have never and will never be back in there. They suck.

That is such a stupid reply.I know people who have been in the produce buiness for 30+ years and you never know about a watermelon.

Also if more people would get on here more often and report bad service in this area, maybe merchants might give better service. If you can't or will not give good customer service, then they need to get out of the business.
