What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

Hey, I didn't make the rules. I guess you have other plans when you die, you're just going to bypass God. Oh that's right, if you don't believe in him he can't do anything to you when you die, sorry.

n Matthew 19:6 Jesus gives a direct command concerning divorce. The only exception to separating what God has put together is in Matthew 19:9.

Since Jesus gives us a direct command not to separate what God has joined together and your spouse hasn't committed fornication, then failing to follow the command not to separate is a sin.

If you keep separating what God has joined together then you are living in continual sin. The only way to be forgiven of this continual sin is to repent, turn back to God, and turn back to your spouse. Failing to do so will cause you to go to hell because God will not forgive you if you keep living in the sin of an unscriptural divorce.

John tells us, "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness" (I John 3:4). Sin is the breaking of God's commands, so, yes, breaking a command of God is sinful. However, you distinguish between sinning and continually sinning. The phrase "continual sin" is not found in the Scriptures, and, hence, we cannot consult the Scriptures for a definition of the concept. This can cause difficulties in discussions if two people have different ideas concerning what is being discussed.

Sins can be repeatedly committed to the point that a person becomes numb to the guilt of violating God's law. "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron" (I Timothy 4:1-2).

Here is a thought. God gave us free will, correct? He can change anyone, correct? God can only make a difference in someone's life if they allow it. What if an abuser never decides they need a change? Will the spouse/children live long enough to see that glorius change? Whaf if the abuser never gets tired of beating the thunder out of their children or their spouse. Do you really think that is Godly? A husband is supposed to love the wife as Christ loved the church (you may not know but he died for the church.), and a wife is to respect her husband. Is a blow to the head how you show love in your family? I suspect you are someone who has done the abusing and hid behind the word of God, and found a way to excuse all of your demonic behavior. Or perhaps you are someone who has been abused, and told this lie. Did the woman at the well turn back to her husband? Unless your Bible reads differently, I don't think so. What is sad about this, someone will read this and think that is what Christians are about. Judge not lest ye be judged. To the person with the "do-gooders" post, honestly very juvenile. But, I do hope you don't think all Christians are made the same. My God is not a God of oppression.

Depends on why you got a divorce,,but then God forgives all..so to answer your question, yes you can still be a Christian. That is the way I understand the Bible.

Yes Smoope I believe this also, I was trying to find out what this closed-minded person thought. He claims that you can't because you are continuously sinning after the divorce.
