That will treat me for pain and that will accept cash as a form of payment. I've got chronic back pain from a surgery I had and the MRI's are showing not much wrong with me but I'm in terrible pain all the time. If anyone out there has a doctor that is treating them for pain that is accepting new patients, please list their name here so I can schedule an appointment asap.

Thanks.

Sounds like you are looking for dope. What about the Doctor that sent you for the MRI.If an MRI don't show anything and that doctor will not give you anything, you must not need it for pain.

Your best bet would be to go to the pain clinic. My dr treats me for pain but he has to see proof from a MRI first. And I don't think he is seeing any new patients.

First of all, you don't know the first thing about me so don't go "oh you're just looking for dope" on me. I'm in chronic pain every day and am seriously suffering. I've had to walk on a cane for the last 7-8 months and I fall down alot because my leg goes numb from nerve damage. I don't need anyone judging me when they know nothing about me. I'm just looking for someone to help me. I hope you, "Dr Feel Good" never know what it's like to suffer like I do and have to live on medication their whole life just to have any quality of life whatsoever.

Pain clinics are sooooo high and most of them accept insurance or credit card only, not cash. I called one today and they said 300.00 for the first visit, 150.00 a month after that. I cannot work because I am in so much pain so I can't afford that. That's why I'm looking for a family doctor. Most of them only charge like, 50-80 bucks, which is more affordable. I wish there was some way I could get a spenddown card or medical card but I'm living by myself and don't qualify. Most family doctors around here say they can't take on anymore pain management patients because of regulations.

Still looking for help.

People that don't live in pain day and night automatically think that you are a pill head. Just ignore ignorant comments. I am in constant pain myself so I understand. I never sleep all night because of back, hip and leg pain, and that's with pain medicine. You can try Dr. Jackie Maxey but I don't think he is seeing any new patients. He is a great dr and he is very understanding. But he will have to have proof that you are having pain. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find some relief soon.

Thanks scooby. I too, have a hard time sleeping at night because I am in so much pain. I found a family doctor last week that will treat me for not being able to sleep, she gave me Elavil 10 mg which work all too well sometimes, I'm having to cut my doses in 1/2 (Does that sound like a "pillhead" to you? haha) But she told me she already had too many pain patients and couldn't treat me for that, because it's so regulated these days in KY. I would even settle for going to a doctor in TN if I had to, just to find one that can/will help me. I have a protruding disc at L5-S1 and a bone spur on my spine and mild nerve damage in my left leg yet can't find a doctor that will treat me for it because the protruding disc was "mildly" protruding. Yet it's enough to cause me so much pain I cannot function without medication at all. My girlfriend has to put my socks and shoes on me because I can't bend over at all. She's had to walk thru the house with me hanging onto her back, dragging me around because I cannot walk some days. And when I lose the feeling in my leg, I fall and I'm in the bed for days, unable to get up.

I think I will post in the TN forums too, to see if I can get any responses for doctors down there. Thanks for your understanding.

there is an office in London and they will treat you for pain but you need MRI that have been done within the last year and also reports from the MRI and medical records from your family dr that diagnosis with the protruding L5-S1 and if you have ever been to another pain clinic or pain dr they will need records the day of your appt. they will also work with you on pymts I think. Spine and Brain in London

I go to a pain doctor in Lexington. I did not know there were some here in London. Can you tell me where? I hate the long drive and it's hard on me. I have a crippling disease and the drive just kills me.

There is a pain clinic on 192 right before you get on the Daniel Boone Parkway. It is over on the right after you go thru the traffic lights by Texaco. I can't remember the name of it but it is in a brick building on the right past those red lights.
What is a pain clinic and what do they do to you there?

Kentucky Back Center on Meyers Baker Road are good and will prescibe pain meds if you need them but they don't just hand them out the door, you'll have to go thru MRI and so forth. They won't turn away anyone that needs help.
And by teh way a cane is just about the worse thing you can do for back pain, it automatically causes you to walk crooked causing further pain and damage. If you need help use a walker, you can find them at Goodwill and so forth cheap. But a walker keeps your spine more inline instead of bent over to one side.

I go to this place, they will give you paim meds, they will also do treatments on your back. There is one thing they do is burn the nerves in your back that don't let your brain know there is pain coming from your legs and thighs. This is the only way to take away the pain.If you don't have ins.go to the health department, they will help pay the bills.Spine and Brain will not work with you on payments,it is cash up front,if you don't have ins.

Go back to the Dr seeing you for the no-sleep problem and see if she will give you a referral and the place on 192 by Texaco is Ky pain management. Good luck either way

Does this place just deal with the back or with other issues? I have had the blocks in the back 9 of them and none have helped, physical therypy and surgery. I also go to Lexington as well.
