If you do not want your kid to do the homework just dont make them do it--simple. However, some parents and- believe it or not- some students like the extra learning and practice. Teachers learned a long time ago they can't make everyone happy so most of them just try to do the best they can to find a happy middleground-I know because I am a teacher. Many parents appreciate me and many do not but I love kids and my job so I just continue to hold my head high and I continue to give homework.

I didnt say I disagreed with homework!!! If you read what I wrote I said such LARGE amounts! I never said my kid did not like learning you are just becoming defensive because you are a teacher and jumping to conclusions.

Our children must be able to compete in the job market when they graduate. They have to compete with China, Japan, etc. Math, Science, Quantum Physics, our kids need to be prepared for what we didn't compete against, when we were in school. To learn all the things they are going to have to endure, they have to begin now. If you are rich enough to leave your kid enough money, to live on the rest of their life, that is fantastic. Not all families can do that. Even then, they have to be educated enough to be able to manage their money. Wait until your kids enter college, your think they have a lot of homework now, you'll be surprised.

The point is not many people from this area are willing to put the time in to educate their kids. Now they will take to basketball practice in rain or snow because they dream their kids will be the next great UK basketball player, or drop them off somewhere for someone to babysit because they couldn't keep their legs closed and want to "live their life now". Why do you think this county is full of uneducated trash that can't do a math problem but sure can make a meth lab or run to the dr to get their pills to sell and abuse?

You have no clue what you are talking about, and besides you sound like a moocher!! Just because my husband has a great paying job that keeps my family up so I can be a stay at home mom clearly doesn't make me a welfare moocher as thats how you refer to yourself!! You learn to judge people based on how you live your life so just because thats how you feel about yourself does not mean the wholeworld are moochers!! You need to grow up and learn the facts of life!!! I was speaking to the mature people of topix who take things seriously not people like you who just try to belittle people when they dont have a clue!! Please keep your negative name calling to yourself! It is clearly not appropriate! I thought we were all adults here!!! Let me make my point once again clear since you didnt understand I said I didnt agree with such LARGE AMOUNTS OF HOMEWORK!! I understand my child will have work that needs to be done at home to help them further their education. I just thinks there should be a limit as to how much!! Children have extra things they like to do after school and if they have 2-3 hours of homework that makes those hobbies about impossible! Its like when you leave your job for the day (if you even one) you dont want to come home and continue to work on things that pertain to your job you want to enjoy the rest of the evening with thing you enjoy!! You should'nt be so quick to judge if you don't know the whole story thats all I'm saying, thats something a moocher does!!!!!

does your child actually work for 2 and 3 hours or is that the total amount of time you spend just trying to get them to work-if they actually work 2 to 3 hours then i agree it is too much but many times people say that and it means that they just fuss about it for 2 to 3 hours.
