I was thinking of putting my 5 year old in this fall, I wanted to look at a website but I couldn't find one. Just wondering if its a good place, or are there any others?

My daughter takes dance there and she really likes it. Diane works very well with children. There is one more dance studio in Corbin. Its called Gail Frederick's School of Dance. They are excellent too. I took ballet growing up at Miss Gail's for 10 years and I thought she was wonderful. I would take my daughter back to Miss Gail's, but it is much more convenient for us to let her take dance here in London. Miss Gail's usually has a waiting list, but you can call and find out more information. I think Miss Gail has more training in dance than Miss Diane. Miss Gail danced for the New York City Ballet in the past. As far as I know, Miss Diane has had either no or very little formal dance training. But, I do think Miss Diane is an excellent instructor and works great with kids. My daughter absolutely loves her to death. So I think they are both very good.

My daughter has taken dance at both Ms, Gail's and Ms. Diane's and I love, love, love Ms.Diane's. She is very good with the kids and also has a great relationship with her instructors. I like the fact that she takes her teams to nationals EVERY year and usually places first or second. It is a great school and the kids learn a lot from her and her staff. By the way we live in Corbin but make the drive to London on class days.Ms.Diane's is the BEST!!!!!!!

what is the schedule and rates like?

Ms. Diane's is alright if you want to pay for 30 minutes a day once a week. I think that is really ridiculous. I could see an hour a week better than 30 minutes. In my opinion, 30 minutes once a week is not even worth the gas to drive there.

I also took dance from Mrs. Gail when I was a child and I remember how special she made me feel and how much I loved her. Now that im an adult with my own children it simply crushed me to have Mrs. Gail to refuse one of my children because of a disability my child has. I begged her to give us a chance and let her see just how mild my child is but she wouldnt have it. This happened with my oldest child. I plan on taking my daughter to Miss Diane's when she turns five.

I have heard from numerous people around the county say diane has taught wrong technique. question1-has kelly ever taken a dance class in her life?,question 2-did diane really dance at lexington ballet academy? question 3-wat the hek are they doing asking for so much money for a dance class, when it isnt the right technique. and final statement diane needs to leave!

Exactly who from around the county have you heard this? I never knew Laurel co. had such a big professional dance scene, but apparently London is crawling with dance experts. You could probably find out about the ballet academy by doing some research, just ask kelly about dance class, and the answer for #3, if you think it is to much keep your kid home. I think Miss Diane does a great job. Sometimes children are not blessed with natural grace, talent and rythym. But I am sure your child is graceful as a swan, and it is the "technique" that is faulty. Maybe you should consider hiring a private dance tutor, maybe a Juilliard graduate, someone with all kinds of "technique".

Obviously you don't know as much as you think you do. There was a place to take dance around here when she was a "yungen", as you called her, and still is another place. Diane took ballet from Gail Frederick's in Corbin. I know this because we were in the same dance class. I took ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics for 14 years. I guess I also have a longggggggg list of credentials. Maybe I should open a dance studio. LOL. I think Diane is a good teacher. I know she is wonderful with children and they really seem to like her. But Miss Gail is alot more experienced and has also danced professionally for the New York City Ballet. I also think that Miss Gail's recitals every year are much better. But Diane is a good teacher and if the children enjoy it, and she treats them well, then that is all that matters.

I also grew up with her, and know myself she took classes in Lexington.

I like Gail, I am not comparing them. Just responding to post about her background.

Well Lexington must be the place to go...my daughter used to dance with Diane's neice Madyson in middle school, and I hear she is now going to Lexington to dance at Barbra Anns School of Dance and not taking classes in London anymore. Is this true?

Diane took from Gail ,and she and several other girls with money took from a woman who was a professional ballet dancer from New York at the same time, their parents paid for her to come her and teach them, she also took classes in Lexington and in college.

i took dance lessons from there for almost 10 years, i was never taught the wrong technique, and diane and kelly are both great teachers.i don't know if diane danced at the lexington ballet academy, and i'm not positive if kelly ever took a dance lesson, but she was on the dance team throughout high school. they are not that expensive, it is only $20 a month per class, thats only $5 per lesson, which i find very cheap.
