Alot of bad coaches for sure! Then again, there are some good ones too! Anyone know anything about the club? Whose the best/worst coach?

Let's not get on here and blast a group of guys who are donating their time and resources to teach young boys about respect, discipline, sportsmanship, and yes FOOTBALL.

Um, excuse me but do you have kids playing? If so, then you have seen BAD Sportsmanship, No Discipline and coaches not respecting the kids. Thats what I see at all the football practices, Its a REAL shame that these adults/coaches are called Role Models.

I believe you are catorgorizing all the coaches into one convenient group. Yes indeed I do have a child playing in this league. Yes I do see discipline and repsect and sportsmanship and techniques taught at each practice. I am only referring to our team, because that is our experience. Perhaps you should do the same. Just because perhaps you have a coach that doesn't conduct himself in a role model manor doesn't mean they are all the same.

the optimist club is a group of men and women who donate their time to provide activities for kids in this area. sometimes its difficult to get coach`s to step up and devote time to the programs. i`m not that familiar with the football situation, but in soccer and basketball the club has to spend a lot of time on the phone calling parents to step up and coach..

The only thing this club is about is winning. If you are not a great player they don't want you. You end up on a team with players no one else wants. There is no sportsmanship at all. The only message they teach is win win win and if you not good than we don't want you!

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. My son couldn't play worth snot last year and his coaches worked and worked with him and the other newbies until they shined, they played every game whether they stunk or not. This year they are leaders for their team. Winning is great but we love it whether or not.

Like all things one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch, Optimist Club needs to be cleaned up about as much as the school system.

I agree with your statement 100 percent.... They did not help my son... He was always on the losing team because the coaches pick the teams like they are pros and then they make you pay to get in to watch your child play.... I am glad I decided my son will not be apart of this anymore.

Why don't you people that get on here and complain just go to the club and tell them you are ready to do what ever they need you to do to make it a better place for you children to play? I am sure they will not turn you away. I apperciate what they have done for my children.

Amen! If you people want to complain, maybe you could volunteer your time that you spend on a computer to making the club better if it so bad. I grew up playing sports in the Optimist Club leagues and it is not all about winning - it is about giving anyone that wants to play a chance to play. I'm sorry if you ended up with a coach that isn't the best, but hey - you can do something about that too! They will let you volunteer to coach if you wanted to, but then of course you wouldn't have anything to complain about huh??? As for paying to get in to see your child play, what exactly do you do if they play school sports - last I checked they still charge admission at middle and high school games. How do you expect a club that is run by volunteers to pay for things if they don't charge admission?? They have an awesome facility out there and the kids in this county are lucky that they have somewhere to play sports like this!!!

I was out there today and I saw alot of children having alot of fun. Many thanks to the Optimist Club and I will be happy to pay my $2.00 each and everytime I go watch my grandchildren learn what it means to get along and play with other children of thier age, all while they are having fun. It is worth every penny of that $2.00 to me, because very soon they will be grown.

If you think $2 is high just wait till they get in school ball and you have to pay at least $5 or more to get in and you get to drive all over the state and buy more gas to due so.

They have charged ever year, if you don't want to pay the $2.00, don't sign your child up to play. It is that simple. Or better yet just stay at home and EVERYONE will be happy.

It is money well spent. This program gives our children the opportunity to play ball and have a great time. It would be nice if they would turn the bleachers around to face the football field.
