I have Windstream dsl it is very reliable but the bandwidth could be better "actual speed is 2.6mb down 360kb up" this speed is almost always constant and I know there is a little more flocculation with cable modems. Just wondering If someone could give me an average on the actual average speed of Time Warner cable in London and if there up time is at least 98%.

Windstream is better, but if you ever have to call technical support Lord help ya. I really think it's a direct line straight in to Taiwan.

I have both at 2 different locations and Windstream DSL is by far superior to Time Warner Cable. DSL is a constant speed for the most part, Cable speeds varies with the amount of people using it, up and down all day long. Sometimes the cable is so slow I turn it off, not worth waiting on. Even at it's top speed if it is any faster then DSL I can't tell it. Also Windstream is cheaper. Cable has a descent deal for first 3 months then the price goes sky high. Cable is still not worth it if you can get DSL, even at the special intro rate.

I have heard many people saying that Time Warner is having problems making/keeping customers. I have heard that from MANY other people.

Sorry to here that but I have had very good luck with technical support. Whenever I have called they have came to my house the same day and sometimes the next morning if I call late in the evening.

Must be when i'm calling then.......I've just had to call twice and both times were after 7:00pm. Both times the girl was really nice and helpful, just could barely understand a thing she was saying. Fortunately I hardly ever have to call and having had cable internet in the past I can tell you that Windstream is by far better.

Well I have 3 locations, one with Time Warner and 2 with Windstream. Me personally I would prefer Time Warner 10 to 1 over my DSL... BUT I do pay for a business package which is 12 mbps down and 2 mbps up speeds; AND they do not vary. But like I said I pay for it, 160 dollars a month compared to 45 dollars a month for the 6 mbps DSL. I have had a million problems out of the DSL, one location in still only running at less than 1 mbps down speed and they have been trying to resolve the issue for around 6 months. However they are refunding the entire bill each month also. Anyways long story short, I'm a cable guy, but I don't know how their standard package is but you can't beat the business package.

Stew, no offense, but what are you smoking? I would rather get a root canal than EVER call windstream CS... and as for same day/next day service? PLEEAAAASSSEEEE! Seriously, I am so glad that you are geeting good service - god knows SOMEONE ought to be getting served while the rest of us feel as though we have been consigned to a new level of Dante's hell.

I have had Windstream since 1997, first dial up and then DSL. In all that time I have had to call CS one time and they sent me a new modem, free of charge, problem solved. So some people do get good service. At work we had TW and it was constantly up and down, absolutely terrible and we were right in town, where you would think there would be no problems. Just one person's experience with the 2 services.

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to voice your opinions about Windstream vs TW. I started dealing with TM the 1st part of June, what I thought would be a simple process of hooking up my wimax to my laptop.. HA! After 5 hours straight on the phone, mostly being on hold I still did not have internet! The next day I come to find out that the
higher ups freezed my account because of whatever the tech did to it in the 5 hours of torture he put me thru the day before... still no internet... call again the next day, on the phone for 2 hours (mostly on hold).. still no internet! I gave up on the wimax at that point, it was painfully obvious that they had NO CLUE to what they were doing! I finally get moved to a new location & reluctantly call TW up to get wifi in the home, easy right? WRONG! I've finally excepted that they put you on hold on purpose, especially when you wanna talk to a supervisor, but this time I was happy to wait! In the end.. however many hours of my time wasted, hair pulled out and many times to the bathroom to wash my mouth out with soap... we do have internet.. but it is HORRIBLE! I've had the tech guy (who, to give HIM credit was SOO extremely nice)but still have issues w/the internet. TW is horrible and I am switching to Windstream. I'm happy to hear that they are better then TW!!! Altho I would have switched over regardless!!!!
