I am completely appauled when I see this. But I am not used to it as you all seem to be. I am not from here. I'm not sure about making it illegal, it should be simple common sense. Just because you choose to smoke doesn't mean your children shouldn't have the choice. Please for their health, learn to do it outside of the car and home. Big brother should not have a part in this.

Big Brother shouldn`t have a say in many things that they undoubtedly jumped right in anyway and infringed on peoples rights.

well if people didnt do dumb stuff like smoking in a car with small kids in it big brother wouldn't have to get involed. we cant make good decisions so he hads to for us, just like car seats if they didnt make parents put little kids in them they would not do it. i think it is bad to see 2 kids in a car and both parents smoking at the same time , the kids may want to live past 30 you think?

well I don't think it should be a law, you can't start making everything a law.Because it would never end, before you know it people won't have choices, no matter what resturaunt you would go to on friday all they would serve is fish, maybe i don't want fish on fiday, to bad it's the law, fish is good for you. or what if it became the law that we can't serve meat at all. meat clogs your arteries people who eat veggies and fruits are healthier. where would it end?

So true.People do stupid stuff, wont use common sense or dont care, then someone steps in and makes a law forcing people to do what they should already be doing on their own.Same ole story a few bad apples that cant use common sense causes everybody to pay.

so let me ask you this, do you drink sodas, coffee, do you eat pork or meat of any kind, or eat salty things like potato chips, crackers, pretzels. common sense says these things aren't good for you. Do we need a law to stop people doing all these unhealthy things also.

Stop and think about a child inhaling smoke! This has nothing to do with pretzels and salt. A child deserves to breath clean air. If you cant see that then you are an idiot! If you want to smoke inhale that crud into your lungs go for it, but do not expose a helpless child to it. Thats child abuse, I am glad tha they are finally going to arrest people for endangering a child! I will report every one I see doing it too! If you love children, you would see this!

you're an idiot, show me where i said a child should have to be in a car filled with smoke, when i smoked i didn't smoke in a car with children in it.do i think a child should breathe air filled with smoke, NO WAY!! that makes you the IDIOT of the day, you ASSUMED that just because i don't think that it should be a law that i thought it was alright.all I'm saying is you can't go around making laws on every little thing that has to do with free choice,.and by the way it's already started with our food.

Its the libtards folks! They want to take care of us. And control us, and make us dependent upon big brother. They are so much smarter and better than us ordinary people. Its a lot like the days of slavery where the plantation owners provided everything. BUCK the system....It sux. And vote for a good conservative next time.

Parents who smoke around their children while at home or in the car may leave them with symptoms of nicotine addiction, researchers say.

Symptoms of nicotine dependence, including a depressed mood, trouble sleeping, irritability and anxiety, were reported by five per cent of the children exposed to second-hand smoke, even though they had never smoked.

It has been widely assumed that people who do not smoke can not develop nicotine dependence, but the new findings turn this conventional thinking on its head.

Parents who smoke around the home could leave their children with symptoms of nicotine addiction, even if they have never smoked a cigarette themselves.

I read the whole article on the subject at the link below.

so whats your point?

parents who stuff twinkies in their piehole all day and teach their kids the same thing, instead of fixing healthy meals, and getting exercise, isn't good for children either, guess we all should pass a law that kids with fat parents should be taken away and learn to eat right. You can't keep passing laws for irresponsible people, the police and judicial system just doesn't have the time or man power if you regulated or put into law all the things irresponsible people do or did.

Who cares! People have been smoking in their cars with their children for as long as vehicles have been around. Its THEIR! vehicle, and THEIR! children. Its not up to everyone else telling people how to live and raise their own kids. You can`t regulate common sense, and if you try, you are infringing on people rights. Many of the laws on the books now violate the Constitution, but not one single person can afford to take it to court and have the laws repealed. It takes money to overturn a law thats already in effect. Money that an ordinary citizen does have to spend overturning bad laws.

Hi there, how ya doing?

Believe it or don't, sometimes you make some sense. This time you don't.

Sodas, pork, meat, salt, etc. are all things that YOU as an individual consume. Your child doesn't have to.

When you smoke in a car, more particularly with windows rolled up, it is devastating to a child's health. Second hand smoke is deadly. I can say in good faith that, this is a point that, if a parent doesn't have enough concern for their own child's health, knowing the facts regarding smoking, then clearly, someone else needs to make that decision for them. The public is educated regarding this. There is no excuse for it period. That child in that car doesn't have a choice. We do. The govt. has to get involved in more situations than I'm sure they care to, but if a parent doesn't value the health and life of their children, someone has to give them a choice.

One can smoke all they want to without endangering the health and life of children. IF someone can't get from Point A to Point B, driving 5 miles down the road without a cigarette, then I suggest rehab. If they are driving long distance, stop the car, get out and have a cigarette. There's far too many options to have it grossly affect our children.
