i heard that saint joseph london is being sued due to a death. a patient blood pressure had bottom out and the patients family could not get any help for about 50 minutes which then was to late they had died. there was no nurse's to be found on that floor i think they said 2nd floor. heard that the state will take away thier medicare and medicaid services away until further investigation so the hospital will be in a awful situation if the state takes their medicare and medicaid services away from them. london's hospital is a sorry place to have to go for treatment. just because they have a new building they think they are the best around. they need to CLEAN house in order to have a good hospital,(meaning get rid of alot of the so called managers there and some of the sorry staff)!

I don't doubt the not being able to get help part. Some of those nurses are slow. Ridiculous when you have to wait up to 2 hours to get something from one of them.

Get used to it.We aint seen nothing yet.Everything is being cut in regard to healthcare and everything else.Less workers mean less care and the care we will get wont be half of what we get now. Most people are going to be in a state of shock once it dawns on them just how bad things are going to get by next year.Best be preparing to take care of your family on your own with little to no income.

I'VE SAID FOR YEARS THAT UNLESS THEY GET RID OF THE CORE PEOPLE FROM THAT HOSPITAL THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MURDERERS! The things Ive seen there scare even the seasoned health care professional!! They don't care who you are, it is all show , if you manage to get any care at all while the family is present! I would never leave a love one there unattended without family 24/7 and would only allow any loved one to be there in a life or death situation until other arrangements were made!! People need to report to the higher up responsible organizations when they see something wrong. Take charge of your lives!!

You know, normally I would write most of what's said on Topix as BS. As most people that post on here are probably allergic to work, education, responsibility. Truth is, most of you are counting down to Obama Check Day in early September. Or, most of you go to the hospital, praying that nurses or MD's make a mistake so you can cash in with the help of a slimy lawyer out of the big city. The truth is, and this coming from someone that busts their butt there, most of the staff work hard at trying to provide patient care. Are there bad "apples" at St Joe? Yep, just as their are slimeballs at BRMC in Corbin or any of the big hospitals in Lexington or Louisville. I personally don't know of any RN that would let their patient's blood pressure crash or ignore chest pain while filing their nails or running errands off the unit. I use these as examples because that's apparently what some of you think.
There are three sides to this story-the family's story, the nurse's version and the truth, which is probably right down the middle. But some of you won't accept that, instead you use the opportunity to make stupid comments about a hospital that has been serving this community long before most of you were born. I wonder how many of you are just ticked because they cut off your Morphine or Dilaudid IV, made you go home and not lay around the hospital and stay high as a kite? Better yet, some of you won't understand this, because you've never had personal pride or pride in your workplace. And probably never will since some wouldn't take a job even if your life counted on it.

I have been to St Joseph London and also Lexington hospitals with my husband many times and have seen a few bad apples here but the worst care he got here in London was much better than than the best care in Lexington. The man in the bed next to him fell in floor and my husband called for help and no one came for more than 30 minutes. These people are the most caring staff here in London but they are over worked and oh yes they are human! No I don't work there but I have spent a lot of time seeing firsthand the care they give.

Institutional corruption

This is an incredible development, especially when you realize how extremely incompetent a hospital in an underserved area HAS TO BE in order to get Medicare privileges withdrawn.
The problem is institutional, of course. Catholic Health Initiatives is a corrupt, derelict, money-making organization that has suffered multiple scandals at multiple hospitals scattered throughout the country. The leadeship is utterly incompetent; very few GOOD health care professionals will work for them. Unfortunate that patients will suffer in near-term, but if CHI ultimately sells the hospital, the community wil be better served in long term.

I think closing the hospital would be the last thing the hospitals in Lexington, or even Baptist in Corbin wants. SJL, has something like 80% or more in Medicaid paying patients. Where are these patients going if, and when, London is forced to close? I think SJL will submit their correction and Medicaid will pick them back up, but under close scrutiny. I do think their Cardio surgery will eventually be shelved.

had three family members in st joseph .if it had not been for the Lord above i would be dead and my dad also .stupidest bunh i have ever seen .i think most of the young pa are busy trying to get a man.AND TO ALL YOU DUMMYS OUT THERE WHO CHOOSE TO SE A PA THEY ARE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS .SO IF THEY MAKE A MISTAKE ITS YOUR PROBLEM.AND ST JOSEPHS IS FULL .THEY CAN KILL YOU . AND ITS OK .IF THEY WANT TO BE A DOCTOR LET THEM FINISH MED SCHOOL LIKE OTHER DOCTORS .AND NOT BE PRETEND DOCTORS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING .THIS HOSPITAL IS FILLED WITH PRETEND DOCTORS WHO MAKE MAJOR MISTAKES REFUSE TO SEE A PA.

Hey Genius, PA's work in every hospital these days. That's because morons that sit around and file lawsuit after lawsuit, and hospitals in areas that are 80% Medicaid reimbursed usually don't attract MD's by the droves. So that's why you see mostly foreign born MD's and PA's at London. And, yes, PA's work under a MD's license.
Since you are so well educated, why don't you apply to work in the hospital? I'm sure you could show those "pretend" doctors up.

You dont know your ass from a hole in the ground. Stick to things you're good at like getting pills, SSI benefits and an EBT card. Let working people hash this out. And, use spell check and get off those caps
