Rumor mill has it that Steve Wright is leaving, or will be fired this season. Any truth? Know one thing for sure, this is the worst SL team in 15 years or more. We're a far cry from the 05-08 teams that dominated the region and went to state every year.

I agree think something bad wrong is going on behind the scenes. I've heard through the grapevine that this could be wrights last year. What puzzles me is why you put in the group he had to bring you back in the 2nd quarter only to go back to the same slow down ball later in the game, seems to me as if wright had given up on his team in the 3rd quarter. They have a talented group of young kids on the team just sad to see them have to go though this by the worst team South Laurel has seen in years.

there is definately something wrong.ive watched several south games this year and i cant understand the constant changes on the court.there is very little production out of the inside positions.wright puts a group on the floor that clicks, then all of the sudden he pulls 2 or 3 off the court.

South Laurel's good player sperm bank is depleted. Coach Wright has run out of talent. Watch his players. They can't shoot. They can't pass. They can't guard the other team. And oh...by the way...they are too short at the guard position. And....the bigger players can's catch the ball nor shoot it....not even close. There is no talent coming up from the middle school for next year. Can't blame Wright if he does leave,or retire.

Talent is down around here, but I disagree with talent being down at South. They have a talented group of sophmores that always seem to keep the games in reach until late. Give it a couple years and South will be back, just hope we dont have to watch the slow down basketball with the younger group.

You're wrong. They have decent talent amongst the Freshman and sophomores. Also, a decent 8th grade team coming up. I don't see a Ty Proffitt or Walt Allen in the system, but there is enough young talent to start winning the region again. And, yes, the 13th region is awful this year. Corbin may very well win it, but don't expect anything more than a first round blowout in the state. Clay County will find a way to choke, as will Knox Central. The only darkhorse I see that could make noise and perhaps surprise us all is Bell co

Tenure has nothing to do with coaching. He can get fired from coaching and still teach.

What are you talking about? Proffitt transferred after a season or two, it's not like he was going to start at PG over Tory Jackson. If he had stayed at ND, he would have been a reserve, but definitely a valuable sixth or seventh guy.

uuummm ok, He couldn't hack it at Notre Dame basketball wise or book wise. He was "good enough" for London because his parents held him back enough times so he was older than his classmates anyway.....so of course he was "better" than them....he was two years older!

NOTRE DAME, Ind.- University of Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey has announced that sophomore guard Ty Proffitt (London, Ky.) has left the basketball program, withdrawn from the University and will transfer to another school.
As a freshman in 2007-08, Proffitt appeared in eight contests and averaged 1.0 points and 0.4 rebounds.
Proffitt did attend summer school and accompanied the team on its recent trip to Ireland, August 12-25.
