Doesn't the democrat controlled State Government regulate the training? The democrats are in charge so this falls flatly at the democrats feet. Democrats in Franfort set the rquirements, standards and training. The democrats have failed us again.

Warning.political troll. It would be so nice if we could just manage to solve 1 problem without bringing in politics, decent people are decent even without labels,so are demons bad no matter what we call them.A democrat in laurel is not a dem, just means the gop ticket was already taken. To be able to run, they have to call themselves something else that is not already taken.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what you read on TOPIX.
Do they even have a "hole" in the LCDC ? doubt it.
Restraint chair ? unlikely
Torture ? don't think so
Flesh eating disease ? Really (sarcastically)
Prescribing drugs ? I don't believe that

I've never been there, but it all sounds far-fetched

Yes, I have been in the jail. So, some of you won't believe what I say just because of that fact. But no one knows what happens to inmates except inmates. It has been almost 2 1/2 years since I have been in there but Laurel Co Detention Center is like a dungeon. I was on "medical watch" and all they did was leave me in the drunk tank for hours. The only time they would open the door was to put another body in the already full, small, dirty room, or to give us meals. They never clean that space. I was in ther for 3 days before I was almost crazy and begged to go back to the cell. I lied and told them it didn't hurt anymore just to go back upstairs. A death in this jail does not suprise me. It is a sad, preventable occurance.

I didn't read about it on TOPIX...I read about it in this article. I've been doing a lot of research online...but the article I was referring to is below. http://www.sentinel-echo.com/x905915305/The-w...

They probably all work at the jail. But you are right, this won't be solved on topix. However it gives her family some insight, and I think they will, shall we say, pursue some things.

If you read the article, you will see that what the jailer is doing is wrong!! But he thinks he is "saving money". So he's playing doctor. I thought it was criminal to practice medicine without a license. This is what the experts had to say to the Laurel County Jailer.(Apparently, he thinks he's smarter)

“They’re not saving any money in the long-run by doing that, if anything they are compounding the problem by number one not finding out what it is and how to treat it and treat it properly,” Pennington said. There are two antibiotics currently used to treat MRSA, and doctors are beginning to see a bacteria resistance. At least eight to 10 discs with the bacteria inside are used when cultured to see which one is susceptible to an antibiotic.

“If you don’t know what that bacteria is, you just can’t jerk something off the shelf. There is not a do-all see-all placebo out there that takes care of everything--that’s why you need to culture. It could be something entirely different from MRSA too,” Pennington said.“The more antibiotics that you put out there, the more resistant bacteria are going to become to that antibiotic. Later on down the line your body may need to use the antibiotic and your body will be resistant to it. You may be developing a superbug in that jail.”

I don't know why she died, but I know why my sister died. She was crossing the street when a pillhead hit her and threw her about 30 feet. I wish he'd been in jail detoxing instead of driving.

when u are on medical watch, you are sent to the hole. or thats how it used to be. and they will sometimes put you in a little yellow paper gown with a very thin blanket. that place is a joke, and just for the record, the truth is. there is no medical watch. it's the guards opening a flap in the door and looking at you every 3 or 4 hours.

I was there for 19 months yes the drunk tank is there medical cells and there is like 4 more single rooms, they hardley check on you but on med call and that is it, They make you 15.00 to see the doctor or the nurse and 5.00 for medicines incliding tylenol. That is awful that a young lady passed up there because of there medical treatment! Jack Sizemore did allow you to have your family bring your medicine up too you and even go buy benadryl at thompson and they took it right to the inmates!

Im only gonna say this, she was not a pillhead she was clean. There is an investigation into her death. Now please let her rest in peace. I hope that none of you have to go through the pain i have endured this week.

I extend my sympathy to the family of this young woman. But nothing—not anything will bring this young woman back. I believe everyone should be treated like human beings. If an inmate demonstrates violence, then that inmate should be properly restrained. But the news of how this woman died is very troubling, and should be investigated thoroughly.

If you get sick in that jail you are punished by going to their hole they probally do that so people lay sick in their cells and dont complain , who wants to go to the hole and be punished for being sick .It saves the jail money if they dont have to take the inmates out to a hospital or doctor .

They are innocent people in Jail. Many there because they cannot make bail. This situation troubles me. I look forward to seeing the results of the investigation. I sincerely send my heartfelt sympathy to this young lady's family.

If you are sick then being sociable is not a high priority. Then we have to wonder is this punishment for being sick or is it the only way to protect the other inmates from disease? Oh it mhas to be some kind of evil plot directed at all the innocents incarcerated without cause. lol

So they are protecting the rest of the inmates when they put sick people in the hole ? Are you just plain stupid or without feelings ? I actually hope it is out of stupidity , that you are saying they are put away from the other inmates to protect them . If someone is complaining of chest pains , is that catching ? If someone has overdosed is that catching ? If someone has a broken limb and in pain or a bad tooth is that catching ? No , to all of these , but you Mosely will allow scabies and any other disease to go on and if the inmate comes down with something in the jail , that someone else brought in , then they have to pay for medicine to cure it ! Shame on anyone who will turn their head and come up with the excuse that these people committed a crime and should be locked up . Where is humanity now ? I'm just saying they are already locked away from family and friends and to be locked up is their punishment . The jailer and deputies don't have to inflict any other sentence on them . Mosely do your job and part of it is to protect the inmates . You could very well end up on the other side of the bars , it does happen . What goes around comes around . TREAT OTHERS WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE . THEY ARE ALREADY UNDER LOCK AND KEY . I HOPE YOU DON'T GET YOUR KICKS BY SEEING SOMEONE ELSE HURT ! THEY HAVE A NAME FOR PEOPLE LIKE THAT .

It said in the paper he has the CHAPLIN available for the staff and inmate's if needed ? At this rate they need a chaplin !
