I just recently went to work at a department store in Corbin and I am shocked at the number of people who are shoplifting and the things they are getting.

They are taking the censors off in the dressing rooms, I don't know how the heck they are getting them off, they are hard enough to get off with the remover.....

But shoplifters, be warned, the Corbin police have hauled a bunch off to jail in the past month. And they take you out the front door in front of everyone but first you get to sit in a room in full view of the customers while you are being questioned.

Sad, so sad. I can't stand a theif !!!!!!

I guess you will enjoy Christmas in jail. To bad for your kids if you have any.

Get a job and pay for your stuff.!!!!! It ain't worth it. It stays on your record for life. Shoplifting is a felony !!!!!

I work at walmart and you are right. People would be amazed at how much stuff and what kind of stuff is stolen. But you do realize that there are also some people who's just desperate. I wouldn't be so quick to judge. I've saw people picked up for stupid stuff and I've also saw a man get picked up for shoplifting diapers for his child, a lady picked up for stealing food and an older man for toiletries. Please think before you pass judgement. I'm not condoning it,but sometimes people are unable to get help and they do what they have to.

And by the way, the ones who's doing it for drugs and for sport, they have figured it out that it's not a felony unless It's $500 or more. They are the ones I look down on. But sometimes you will see some that it breaks your heart. It sounds like this is your first job. I wish you luck, but this is the reality that we live with.

No this is not my first job and it is a upscale department store not Walmart or Kmart. And she was caught with over $700.00 in bed sheets.

I think a mandatory 30 day Jail time for a shoplifter, second offense 1 year.

That is the only solution to the problem stricter punishment.

Hell, NO! I don't want my tax dollars going to support a shoplifter! Instead, lets have the newspapers put a picture of them with the shit they got caught with! The embarrassment for them and their families should nip it in the butt! I also think a mandatory help the community for 30 days would do it. Let them see how good they have it. How about they have to help the elderly and the poor with chores? Work in the soup kitchen? It would have to be something where they actually do some good. Picking up trash along the road, while needed, just doesn't let anybody see that their life could be worse.

I agree with you. I remember when I was younger I stole a pack of gum and my mom found out, she made me walk back in and return it. I was so embarrassed.

No,you'd really be surprised at what they get away with. And sweetie, you say walmart or Kmart like it's a bad thing. Upscale in London or Corbin, where would that be considered??? Either way,I was just saying that sometimes people do drastic things and there are those who do it to support a drug habit. And if this amazes you so much, what kind of jobs have you worked??? I've managed gas station's ,restaurants, department stores, including maceys and Dillard so I've seen a lot of shoplifting at each one. Some common thieves and some not so common.

Totally agree with Get Real!!!!!! Post their pictures on the door where they stole and yes maybe in the local paper. But they do that now when they are arrested.
Dotn get me wrong, if someone came to me and was hungry, I would sure give them food or anything for their children.

They should be given some jail time and also have to pay restitution or perform community service.

IMO the best way to handle a shoplifter is to get the judge to sentence them to stand out in front of the store next to the road holding a sign. The sign should say "I shoplifted from such and such store."Require them to do that for so many hours or days.

By the way this has been done before right here in Ky.
