It was in today's Sentinel Echo. With Tom Jensen dropping out of the race unopposed The Republican and the Democrats can nominate one person each to run for the State Senate Seat. The Republican Comitee at the Court House Meeting chose Albert Robinson to run for the seat. The Democrats have yet to make their selection.

I so agree with you.I have only been here about 8 years or so and even I have heard about a lot of the crap Robinson was involved in.Padding his pension for serving as a legislator and using his connections to profit from a road running by his property, etc.Pathetic Laurel County. The longer a politician is in office the more corrupt they become. These retreads need to be thrown out of office and once they are out they need to stay out.I am also for term limits for all legislative offices. It should not end up being a career for these people since it is only a part time job.

What a disgrace if he is sent to represent us in Frankfort. The republicans are in bad shape in Laurel Co. if he is all they can come up with. all he ever did before was make himself rich with land deals with the state and a state pension increase that he voted for himself.

This is pure Political Manipulation. with Jensen dropping out of the Senate Race before the Election the Voters are left holding the bag. The Republican Party Representitaves decided who would run for the senate seat and not the voters in the primary election. Mr. Jensen should be ashamed of himself he allegedly has dropped out of the Senate race to run for Circuit Judge which would increase his retirement.
Is their any word on who the Democrat Party Representatives have chosen to run for the senate race? I will vote Democrat or for the stray dog running down the road before I vote for Albert Robinson!

If someone decent runs against Albert they could win. I am a republican but I will vote for anyone who runs against him. Will also vote against Jensen, who set this up so Albert could get back inn the senate and pad the pension. Its a disgrace. I really hope the democratic party supports a candidate and beats Albert. What a joke, on us.

Democratic candidate for 21st district senate seat announced

LONDON, Ky.(WYMT)- Leaders from the Kentucky Democratic Party have chosen who they think should serve Kentucky's 21st District.

The pick comes after republican incumbent Tom Jensen announced he was giving up his seat to run for circuit court judge.

KDP officials announced Amie Hacker of Laurel County as their candidate to serve the state's 21st District.

Hacker was the only person nominated at the meeting and executive committee members said it was an easy choice.

“We just need someone that will speak for the middle class people and the work class people and it is time that we move forward and not sit at a stand still like we have been for the last few years,” said Shayne Puckett, the KDP Estill County Chair.

“It is time we have a state senator, we have went for years and we did not have one,” said Tony Ball, the Powell County Chair of KDP.
“I think she will represent Powell County and Menifee County also.”

The small business owner said she can relate to many in the five-county region

“I understand what they are going through,” said Hacker.
“I am not a politician that don't understand when they need jobs, they need a better education for their family.”

Hacker said was “one of them” and was ready to “help them and be a voice for them.”

Her opponent, Republican Albert Robinson, who has previously served in the state senate, said he, too, relates to small business owners.

When asked about his platform, Robinson said “what you see is what you will get.”

He said his platform is “God, gun, country and family.”

“Larger businesses, I usually do not get their support, unions, I don't usually get their support,” said Robinson.
“But it's the small businesses, the little people I try to support.”

The chosen candidate will serve a full four year term. Because Sen. Tom Jensen was running unopposed for his third term, his withdrawal created an opening on the ballot for both parties. The candidate will be chosen during the Nov. 6 election.

Is Laurel County turning into Clay County? Sure as heck seems that way lately. From school officials being arrested to a police detective ripping off the department to good ol' Albert feathering his and others' nests (who don't need it having been taken care of the last time he was in office). Time to wake up folks.

I believe the Laurel County Republican Party seriously dropped the ball here. They could have nominated a fresh face but instead left themselves wide open for defeat to the Democrat nominee.

Please educate me. Tell me something good that Albert has done for us that was not self serving or to the benefit of one of the local good ol' boys.

I may vote Democratic as well. Its a shame that he is the best person the Republicans could come up with. Its not about doing the right thing and helping people its all about keeping their little group in power. That is exactly whats wrong in this state today--too many entrenched good ol boys. The only way you can get rid of them is when they cross the line and get in legal trouble. This was probably all worked out between them before Jensen ever announced.
