So I know to lose weight the right way you have to exercise and eat right. But I'm wondering if any of you have tips on how to lose some pounds (around 20 -30) fast? I've got this thing coming up in a few months and I want to look good!

25 fat grams and 2000 calories a day(don't cheat)and you can lose that much in 2 months.but you have to count everything and it is all on the web or provided by most resturants.its all up to you on how serious you really are.

The fastest way to loose FAT is 2 pounds a week. I doubt it can be done faster. As for just weight , meaning water , fluids , muscle , you can loose 15 lbs in 15 days but after the 1st 15 days you will slow down the progress.

There is only one way to loose weight and that is to consume less calories then you burn , always being in calories deficient. You can eat a bucket of Mayonnaise or pork if you want , it does not matter so long as you are not eating over your daily calories limit.

Fat will not make you fat. ANY over abundance of a nutrient will make you fat.

The best tip for you is to eat foods that are not calories dense. Avoid the following calorie dense foods.

cookies
soda
cakes
meats

with any diet other then Ketogenic or Atkins; 40% of your calories need to come from Fat , 40% from protein and 20% from carbs

40/40/20

I can provide better information if you tell me your goals.

25g of fat is not enough. Fat is an essential nutrient for brain function. Fat is necessary to keep the body out of fat storage mode. Carbs + protein cause insulin spikes and make your body want to store fat buy lowering your calorie maintenance level. Fat blunts the effects of insulin spikes. Yes this means fat Free milk is the WORST Thing you can drink when you want to loose weight but one of the best when building muscle because those insulin spikes also help protein synthesis to the muscles.

A HEALTHY diet will have 60 - 100g of Fat

Well I would really like to lose more than that, but for now 30 pounds will do. I drink lots of water and only diet soda. I have to admit, with the type of work I do and my busy home life I can't find a whole ;lot of time to exercise and I know that is important, but you know how life just seems to get in the way. So should I just stick with counting calories or doing the whole 40/40/20 thing? Do I do that with every meal?

Foods I ate that helped me

Natural Peanut butter
Naked Meat ( no breading)
Bacon
Egg Whites
Hamburger
hot dogs
cheese
whole milk

notice no bread in any of these. Bread is good but 100g a day of carbohydrates are enough. Sugar is a carb. If you eat bread make sure its Whole Wheat!

I also urge you to stay away from Subway , thats the biggest diet scam i have seen in my life.

Good Luck on your goals and come back for more assistance anytime.

WOW! sound like a diet i need. I've tried everything
and eating out of the vending machines at work does not help. What is wrong with egg yokes? And what about adding spices? Is steak sauce ok? Sounds like you know what your talking about.

Egg yokes are the cholesterol of the Eggs. Most of the time spices do not have calories and steak sauce normally only has sodium but check the bottle to see and add the calories accordingly. I liked honey mustard as it is calorie free.

When I need to get a few pounds off fairly quickly, I do the no-carb to low carb route. I've never tried to lose 30 pounds in a short period of time but I do know that the more body fat you have the more wieght in fat you'll drop in the begining of any diet.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so sometimes you don't seem to be dropping a lot of weight if you're working out and dieting. You really should do both though. Even if you're out of shape enough that you can only do some walking. Just increase the length and the pace of your walk every other day. To get prepared to start working out, start doing exercises that will limbe you up so your body won't feel the aches and pains that you'd definitely have if you just start a work out program cold.

No- to low carbs- don't eat any sugars or food with carbs. No breads, pastas, rices or potatoes. Stay away from fruits too. Get rid of the diet pop and drink water. I like coffee, so I cut way down on my coffee, I still drank milk tho. No juice. It's better for you, it is also great for your skin. You can eat all the proteins you want. Meat, veggies (except tomatoes), cheeses, eggs. Just stay away from breaded stuff. Look at your salad dressings - some have sugar. Labels are your friend! It sucks for the first few days, you'll be craving carbs like bread and pasta. By the end of the week you'll be pretty much over the craving. Stick with this for one more week.

After the first two weeks start adding in fruits, but don't over do it. I have found some pretty decent low carb breads (they're very thin sliced and sort of spongy but I actually like them.) At this point you've probably dropped a pants size or so - maybe more. Each week you can slowly add carbs in, but keep the amount low, make sure you cut down on fats too.

The purpose for doing this diet this way is that when you cut off the carbs (this is what your body burns) your body will start burning off the stored fat. By making your body burn stored fat you're rebooting your system to burn that fat instead of stockpiling it just incase you plan to get in a plane crash in the Andes and you don't want to eat a fellow passenger. You can live off stored fat long enough that the search party finds you... Doubt that's what your big event is, so you can get rid of the excess!

I found that after doing this I usually crave sugars and carbs less. I don't go by pounds lost, I look at the size I wear. I'm 48 and I have always pretty much stayed at somewhere between a 6/7 to 9/10, I'm 5.9. I alway gain weight in January and February for some reason, so I do this to get myself back on track, the quick loss really helps me stay focused and being discouraged is the worst thing you can deal with when you're trying to lose weight.

My husband did this with me the last time I did it, he actually gained weight the first week, but dropped it twice as fast over the next two weeks and kept losing. I think he lost about 25 pounds in 5 weeks, he cheated too! The rat! He's always been in exceptionally good shape.

Good luck, and whatever you do - the person you are inside is so much more important than the one on the outside. Feed your self confidence as much 'sugar' as you want!

The Low carb diet is some what magic. We call it Ketogenic on the BBforums because it puts your body in a state of ketosis. 30g should be your MINIMUM intake and 50g maximum.

The Healthy way to do low crab is to have a loading day where you eat all the breads you want on the weekends. through the week monday - Friday will be your low carb days. This is also called carb cycling by some people.

I prefer diet soda to water alone because caffeine promotes a faster metabolism.

i forgot to add. If you eat less then 1500 calories a day you put your self at risk for organ failure and permanent damage to your metabolism. It wont happen in a day but will over the course of a few weeks.

The caffine does raise metabolism, but if someone is not used to a diet and the sugars are gone, that caffine rush can really hit them hard. I should have said - don't cut out the diet soda all together, but they really should take care not to drink more of it than they normally do. I couldn't give up my McDonald's coffee. They have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers if they even thought about it... I know caffine. It knows me and we have a wonderful relationship!

The way you described the diet is basically the way my husband did it. Doing it that way would also help a person who may want to binge once they're off of the program if they real carb lovers. I could live on fresh baked bakery bread (and McD's coffee), bread is my hardest thing to live without when I do this diet.

This is the same diet I was put on when i had my second child. I had geststional diabetes. I wasn't allowed - the only carbs I was allowed to have were in the form of multi-grain breads.

If someone is following this diet, they will probably eat more than 1500 calories a day, they'll be eating at more intervals too. You tend to feel hungry very often for the first week, knowing that you can eat all the protein you want allows you to eat more of them than you normally would.

i have a question for na kirby since you seem to know what your saying. I have high cholesterol. I weigh about 190 lbs and 5 ft 6.5 inches tall. My goal is to weigh approx. 135-140 lbs. i have had issues with my weight my whole life. Ive weighed 138- 190 up and down as long as i can remember. Its been 8 years since ive weighed 138. i dont know what to do. I dont want to stop eating because thats not good for your body. ive tried everything i guess i just give up to easy. im so depressed and hate being overweight. what kind of diet do you recommend for someone needing to lose 50 plus lbs and lower cholesterol?

Foods with enhanced levels of plant sterols can help lower cholestoral.

- Low Cholestoral Foods.

- Avoid fried foods.

- Foods high in soluble fiber are very helpful in lowering cholestoral levels, especially LDL. Plants are foods that more effective in lowering cholestoral.

- Replace high-fat foods with all low fat foods.

- Oat bran and brown rice bran are the best foods for lowering cholestoral.

as for loosing weight while still eating a lot, you must be WELL disciplined and JOG not walk but Jog for 20 minutes twice a week. the jogging 20 minutes twice a week is absolutely fail proof. Do it and you will loose weight you have now.
